Janet Reno fought a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Reno, the nation’s first-ever female attorney general, served in the Clinton White House from 1993 to 2001…

As part of the Clinton administration, Reno oversaw the high-profile convictions of numerous bombers including Ted Kaczynski, the domestic terrorist infamously known as the “Unabomber;” Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman for the 1993 World Trade Center bombing; and Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols for their roles in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

“Speak out against the hatred, the bigotry and the violence in this land. Most haters are cowards. When confronted, they back down. When we remain silent, they flourish,” Reno said one month after the Oklahoma City bombing.
Reno’s time in office was also bookended with a pair of major controversies that gripped the country. In 1993, she took office as the Waco, Texas, standoff was already underway. On the 51st day of the standoff, the attorney general ordered federal agents to raid the compound — a decision that resulted in the death of approximately 80 members of the Branch Davidian sect.

I just checked — she was the second longest AG in US history. My memory is that she did a good job, despite being viciously attacked by Republicans — and mostly not for her job performance — but for her looks and possible sexual orientation.

DAMN! – we sure as hell could have used someone with her courage to go after these rats in the corrupted FBI. Fortunately, she is from a people that don’t take kindly to open threats like um…

“CIVIL WAR THAT’S BEING INSTIGATED BY THE WHITE RACIST INFESTED FBI and US”

so it’s quite proper for US to bid her a friendly farewell.

RIP Ms. Reno and thanks for reminding US that COURAGE is a personal issue, not a gang of white thugs threatening to overthrow the Republic!

    RIP AG Reno.

Thank you for your service and integrity.

Personally, I have not forgotten how so many individuals and groups that claim to be pro law enforcement, viciously and dishonestly attacked you in the aftermath of Waco.

I didn’t viciously attack her but I did think the Waco siege was bungled.

It’s important to remember, Reno inherited the Waco siege. It started under Bush’s AG. She was still literally unpacking boxes when it all went down.

But, that being said, Waco could have been handles so much better.

It is sad that she didn’t live a few more days to see America’s First Woman President Elected.
