Profile in cowardice: Rep who compared Trump to Mussolini and called for him to drop out now will vote for him

It’s party over country for these weaselly Republicans.

Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT) said on Wednesday that he will vote for Donald Trump despite once comparing the GOP nominee to Benito Mussolini and calling on Trump to drop out of the race following the release of a 2005 tape with vulgar comments from the nominee.

“These other candidates, they’re just not going to win,” Stewart told St. George News. “Given that choice, it’s very clear to me what is better for our country. It is very clear that Donald Trump is a better choice than Hillary Clinton.

He said that a vote for any candidate other than Trump is a vote for Clinton. Stewart also acknowledged his past criticism of Trump, but said that he ultimately supports the Republican nominee.

“At that time I was so disappointed in Trump that I did ask him to step down, and I did think that Mike Pence should be our leader. But, you know, that didn’t happen, and Mr. Trump is still the nominee,” he said, referring to his statement calling on Trump to step aside over his comments on the 2005 tape.

Stewart also compared Trump to Mussolini in March, telling students at the University of Utah that Trump “does not represent Republican ideals.”

I have been voting against Chris Stewart since I moved to Utah. He is Mormon. The Quorum of 12 and the office of the First Presidency of the L.D.S. has done Chris Stewart’s thinking for him. In lock step now, ‘all hail Joseph’ Smyth.

So this guy supports what Mussolini did? That is how I take what he is saying.

    Spine made of gravy.
    It won’t save him.
I think after the election the GOP is going to be rent with vicious infighting with no holds barred. After all, the Trumpkins and Tea Party know no bounds and specialize in the low blow. Their lack of restraint is gonna make it mighty ugly…..
