Ryan tells Republicans: Do what you must to save your seats

Posted by | October 10, 2016 13:38 | Filed under: Politics

Paul Ryan clearly knows Trump will lose.

Ryan spoke to House members on a conference call Monday morning following an intense political weekend, in which many Republicans abandoned their party’s nominee. Ryan also said that he would not campaign for or defend Trump in the weeks before the election.

A source on the call said the Rep. Greg Walden — the chair of the House campaign arm — gave a dire warning about polling, and that things were trending negative for House Republicans. They implored members to continue contributing to the NRCC and pay their dues if they wanted to keep the House.

While Ryan initially “didn’t say anything about the endorsement” he later returned to the call to clarify that he was not un-endorsing Trump. Several members pushed back on Ryan, furious with him and arguing that House Republicans should be supporting Trump and working to get a Republican in the White House. One member went so far as to call Ryan a “coward,” a source said, though several others described the coward comment as being directed at GOP leadership in general. A source on the call said those that expressed support for Trump were from deeply red states.

HRC’s 85% chance of winning the Presidency, also leaves GOP a mere 41% Senate majority chance. Buh-bye Senate leader (R-KY crotch grabber) McConnell. http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/senate/?ex_cid=2016-forecast

I was only 12 years old when Barry Goldwater suffered his landslide defeat.

I was 20 years old when I cast my first presidential vote for George McGovern.

Those were the two most recent landslide annihilations in presidential politics. But I do not remember the party of either candidate, disintegrating before our very eyes, abandoning the nominee.

2016 is certainly unique and unprecedented in my lifetime. If Republicans are publicly expressing concern about holding the House of Representatives, you can bet that at least some of those campaign dollars they had planned on using in “battleground” contests will have to be diverted to the effort to hold on to seats previously considered “safe”.

It is my sincere hope that election day 2016 will be the last page in an unfortunate chapter of GOP history that began with Sarah Palin accepting the VP nomination, cracking jokes about selling the governor’s private airplane on ebay. The governor of the most socialist state in the union (free oil royalty checks for everyone, including toddlers), campaigned by railing against socialism.

In the ensuing 8 years, that peculiar tendency where facts are nowhere to be found in Republican policy has spread into every corner of the party. Trump needs to lose in a landslide that makes the Goldwater and McGovern results look like electoral tossups. Donate what you can to any Democratic candidate or organization. And everyone, please vote. Let;s eradicate the insanity once and for all and return to an era where being Republican meant you had a party which included people like Margaret Chase Smith, Edward Brooke, Everett Dirksen, Nelson Rockefeller and Charles Percy, not death panels, Chachi, and BENGHAZI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It took 118 years to build the Republican Party and only 48 Years to destroy it.

It’s probably too late. Trump killed your party and you let him. Now the cadaver is stinking up the place. You need to bury it and get a new one. Just tell the idiots in the big tent that you took it upstate to go live on a nice farm. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/69b5caff0b12390d333315bdb9e6af83eedc5651a0f2e138b632c6f57adaa6a6.jpg

so much for party unity, or a national policy

Growing a Brain is a Slow Process for some, but I think Ryan is catching on as to how to do it.

I don’t know, He is different. Different from the rest of the Boner Heads and Different from what He used to be. I can’t say I like him or endorse him, but He is changing and going somewhere different, Good or Bad.

        • whatthe46 October 10th, 2016 at 20:16

“…he was not un-endorsing Trump.” no change sweetie. and actions are stronger than words. not commenting on what tRump said means that party comes before morality, well not unusual from that group. but, we’re talking about sexual assault and he can’t even denounce it.

          • The Original Just Me October 10th, 2016 at 20:23

True He is Not Un-endorsing Him. But, telling People to do what THEY have to is much different than the Tow The Line Republican Way.Just a small crack but a significant one.

i guess you’re right. but, i’m looking for the words “do the right thing for the right reasons.” don’t vote for tRump because he’s bad for this country. i can’t stand them and i guess it shows. does it?

              • The Original Just Me October 10th, 2016 at 21:38

Naw, You are as Gentle as a Lamb. We do need a strong two party system. But the last 20 years have been a Bad time because of the Republican Party. That has caught up with them now. For the next several years ( Decades) we need a strong working Democratic Government. If the Republican Party is to survive, which we do need it to but not for awhile, it has to face reality and Change it’s ways. Total Dictator Control of the People and it’s Party Members has to STOP. I think this is what Ryan is seeing, Maybe. Time will tell.

as long as he doesn’t run for office anymore i’m good. we will remember what they’ve done to Obama and we will remember what they’ve done to Hillary and we will remember the sh!t storm they gave us with tRump.

                  • The Original Just Me October 10th, 2016 at 22:35

As I said ” BAD ” but I do smell a change in the Air maybe Good , Likely Bad , but we will see. :+)

Oh, now you have me looking like Trump when he was standing behind his chair. Pressing against the chair, eyes closed tightly, and mouth open and gasping. Hillary turns Him ON .

                    • whatthe46 October 10th, 2016 at 23:23

This Repulsive infighting is a thing of beauty. Rump has done something good and it’s that he created the “monster of defeat”. Eddie Munster and The Turtle must be very proud…

    • Mensa Member October 10th, 2016 at 22:10

Here is my fear — Trump isn’t the worst the GOP can give us.

      • fahvel October 11th, 2016 at 04:41

good point. trump is the ugly head of a vile and mean monster that has many many repugs in the shadows who are beyond narcissism, just sick primitive fkrs.

        • whatthe46 October 11th, 2016 at 05:03

but, i appreciate that tRump exposed these bastards. many careers have been destroyed because of their ignorance in “pro-tRump.” “cops, teachers, doctors, lawyers, business persons, you name it. and i love it. he’s lost more business and millions since he started running and i love that too. it’s going to be a long time before they get back into office. either they get on the bus or fk off completely.

  10. bpollen October 11th, 2016 at 00:24

His message is “Keep doing what you have always done?”

    Thanks, Paul.

i wallow in the fact that the GOPissers LOST twice to Obama and will now lose again to a “GIRL.” they are racist and bigots and hateful beings. and now, we get to stick it to them again with Hillary! i will NEVER ever trust repukes. we’ve made history with Obama and we will make history again with Hillary. what a blessing.
