8400 troops to remain in Afghanistan
A plan to reduce troops to 5000 has been put on hold because of a Taliban resurgence.
Click here for reuse options!A plan to reduce the troop number from 9,800 to 5,500 by year’s end will now reduce it to 8,400 instead. “The narrow missions assigned to our forces will not change,” Obama said. “They remain focused on supporting Afghan forces in going after terrorists but maintaining our forces at this specific level based on our assessment of the security conditions and the strengths of Afghan forces will allow us to continue to provide tailored support to help Afghan forces continue to improve.”

Maybe it’s just me…
But I think we have been trying to control events in Afghanistan about 15 years too long…..
I believe there are more productive things in the world we could spend our time, money and effort on..

Nobody has ever been able to control Afghanistan. Not even Afghanistan.
