Man allegedly burned down house because of ‘medical bills piling up’
He didn’t want to sell the home because it had been in the family for generations.
Click here for reuse options!Keith Allen Izer, 48, told police that he set the fire because he did not want to sell the home that had been his grandparents’, to someone else.
A neighbor, Paul Evarts, who has lived behind Izer’s trailer in the 3000 block of Claremont Road for years, said Izer had lost his job some months back.
“He worked at different places,” Evarts said. “This last job, he had for about four years. Then, he got sick…and he couldn’t get unemployment. Everything went downhill after that.”
Evarts said, “It’s sad. He’s basically a good person. He’s hit a rough patch. As soon as he lost that job, he stopped caring anymore.”
…After police took Izer into custody, he told them that he didn’t have health insurance and could not afford any and that he had “medical bills piling up,” according to the complaint.
He also told police that he was several years behind on his property taxes and had his water, phone and gas shut off for failure to pay the bills.

Poor guy…the story is all too common…
The richest country in the world spends trillons on wars … so there’s no money left for helping people down on their luck…
