Republican House now trying to frame Obama on Benghazi

Posted by | June 26, 2016 21:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

The monomania about Benghazi, which has so far come up snake eyes, is now desperately trying to involve the White House.

The committee sent Obama a list of questions, which the administration has called inappropriate and an attempt to frame the White House as uncooperative. Neil Eggleston, counsel to the president, has advised Obama not to answer any questions “because of the implications of his response on the constitutional separation of powers,” he said in a letter to Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.).

“If the president were to answer your questions, his response would suggest that Congress has the unilateral power to demand answers from the president about his official acts,” the letter reads.

Meanwhile committee spokesman Jamal Ware criticized the White House for being unhelpful to the investigation.

if gowdy is anu kind of da at all, he should know that there is absolutely NO MERIT whatsoever in his boondoggling gossip.

Personally, I think the White House should file suit against the US Congress for embezzling US TAX dollars for this multi- millions of dollars witch hunt.

    Poor Boy Gowdy!

  9. Ron Theison June 26th, 2016 at 22:57

How can Obama be framed? Isn’t it a fact that he is the President and was responsible for what happened to the Ambassador he sent there, and is also responsible for not sending military forces to intervene in an attack that lasted several hours and was some 20 hours before help finally arrived? The buck stops with him!

    • Red Mann June 26th, 2016 at 23:02

Ron, are you really that stupid or are you some kind of elaborate Poe? I’m leaning toward monumental stupidity, but you might be doing some juvenile prank to irritate the grownups.

Are you on crack? Benghazi timelines proved within 20 minutes from the first call for help, U.S. troops on the ground moved out, arrived and retook the compound within 1 hour and fifteen minutes from the first call for help, Saving 30 lives! http://www.cbsnews.com/news/benghazi-timeline-how-the-attack-unfolded/

        Thanks for the graphic.

I was living in Karachi during the consulate bombings.

it was utterly horrific and the Republicans let out a collective yawn.

So, excuse me if I don’t believe their faux outrage about Benghazi.

      • Ron Theison June 27th, 2016 at 08:00

US troops were nowhere in sight, and the CIA security contractors were told to stand down! All the while Hillary and Obama did nothing. Troops didn’t arrive until 20 hours later!

        • OldLefty June 27th, 2016 at 08:19

9:40 p.m. (3:40 p.m. ET): Gunfire and an explosion are heard. A TOC agent sees dozens of armed people over security camera flowing through a pedestrian gate at the compound’s main entrance. It is not clear how the gate was opened. ->The agent hits the alarm and alerts the CIA security team in the nearby annex and the Libyan 17th of February Brigade, one of several powerful militias serving as a de facto security presence in Benghazi. The embassy in Tripoli and the State Dept. command center were also alerted. -> Meanwhile, the U.S. military began moving an unarmed drone over Benghazi to provide real-time intelligence to the CIA team on the ground. It would take roughly an hour to arrive.

10:25 p.m. (4:25 p.m. ET): A six-member CIA team arrives from the annex with 40 to 60 members of 17th of February Brigade. The team removes Smith’s body.
10:54 p.m. (4:54 p.m. ET): An alert from the State Dept. Operations Center: “the firing… in Benghazi has stopped. A response team is on site attempting to locate COM personnel.” http://www.cbsnews.com/news/benghazi-timeline-how-the-attack-unfolded/

Why do you keep leaving out the part about Hillary personally handing out gold coins to the attackers? Did you skip over that part, or was it on a seperate Fox News cue card that you couldn’t quite read?

    • whatthe46 June 27th, 2016 at 00:59

      who’ the criminal…?

and don’t forget the millions of deaths of innocent Iraqi’s and American soldiers who were murdered by bushy/ms. cheney. this fight we’re in, is because of your repuking president and every repuking president before President Obama.

      • Ron Theison June 27th, 2016 at 07:55

And do you know what the national debt is now? Almost 20 trillion dollars, which is the biggest debt load ever put on the nation by one man (Obama) and is more debt compiled than all the other previous presidents combined!

Not to mention more people on food stamps and welfare.

Not to mention the worst recovery since WW2.

Not to mention wages for the average person are still stagnant (While his cronies get richer and richer).

Yep that Obama, he sure is something else.

        • OldLefty June 27th, 2016 at 08:23

NY Times tallies Bush’s contribution to the debt at $5.07 trillion, and Obama’s (including projections through 2017) at $1.44 trillion.

Estimates of the stimulus’ contribution run between $711 billion (the NYT) and $830 billion (CBO). While not a small number, it’s a fraction of the debt problem, and about half of what the US has spent on wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Blaming Obama for spending to restore the economy conveniently ignores the fact that the Great Recession was hatched on Bush’s watch, Likewise, not to mention that the financial meltdown has forced the government to shell out about $400 billion in unemployment benefits over the past few years — a problem that Obama clearly inherited.

The Bush tax cuts are the single largest contributor, according to the Pew Fiscal Analysis Initiative.

          http://www.pewtrusts.org/uploadedFiles/wwwpewtrustsorg/Fact_Sheets/Economic_Policy/drivers_federal_debt_since_2001.pdf

          And don’t forget;

          Unemployment; Reagan;

          1981 began 7.5% (2009 began 7.8%)

          By Dec 1982; 10.8% (By Oct 2010; 10.1%)

          By Oct 1984; 7.4%

Public sector employment increased under Reagan, by +1.4%.

Bush increased public sector employment, (+3.7%

Public sector employment decreased under Obama, by -2.7%.

Obama actually has done a great job under horrible conditions.

He not only put his signature of endorsement on a bill creating the largest deficit in history, but he broke his record several times, the first being merely 2 years after he took over and inherited a hefty surplus with the CBO projecting another $11 trillion in surpluses over the next decade if Bush and the Republicans would just leave things alone.

I see a lot of people have already offered up facts to try to counter this continued nonsense about Benghazi. I find it very disheartening that a lie said over and over again takes hold, but putting the TRUTH out with facts and data does not have the same effect. Unfortunately it is only we here at liberal sites that look at these things.
