Texas secessionist movement tries to piggyback with #texit

Posted by | June 24, 2016 10:24 | Filed under: Politics

Texas secessionists are taking inspiration from Brexit.

The Texas Nationalist Movement has been trying to piggyback on Britain’s vote for leaving the European Union for several weeks, arguing the two movements are basically the same, reported Vocativ.

“The vast majority of the laws, rules and regulations that affect the people of Texas are created by the political class or unelected bureaucrats in Washington,” said Daniel Miller, president of the TNM.

Derp … the vast majority of laws, rules and regulations that affect the people of Texas are created by the political class or unelected bureaucrats in TEXAS. Those unelected bureaucrats in Texas are, by and large, appointed by republicans voted into office by ignorant Texans.

Please, there is a huge upside to this, let em vote…
My dad used to say “Give people what they want, whether they want it or not”

Careful now, we might very well get tRump. The people want an exit from the staus quo and the democrats took away Sanders, the sane exit, leaving only the bad exit, an exit none-the-less.

I’m hopeful Britons will see the error of their ways…the referendum is just that, it has no legal authority. If enough people voice their regrets and claim they were misled by Farage and the UKIP, this thing could wind up working against the winners…
I’m shocked at the number of people who voted out of anger thinking it would never pass and now that it has, they want a do-over … usually voter remorse takes a month or so at the very least…the vote is barely 12 hours old and already 20% want to change their mind.

The EU isn’t all that great. Once people calm down and look at things objectively they will realize things aren’t really all that bad. Their democracy will be a little stronger and the oligarchy will have a little less influence on them. In the long run they should do better than many of the countries that remain in the EU, that are subject to being beaten up and taken advantage of by the oligarchy. Briton may very well lead the way toward a better future for all of Europe. Neoliberalism and austerity are failures, Britton can now abandon that and bring about change that hopefully works.

“In the long run they should do better than many of the countries that remain in the EU”

Ooo, yeah… That’s not how that works.

We aren’t the most powerful nation on Earth because we disintegrated into a bunch of balkanised nonsense, we’re the most powerful nation on Earth because we’re united.

Those economic rules are precisely the same over there as over here. Great Britain is in for a short sharp shock, I’m afraid… and the EU is as well, but not to the same extent.

              • mea_mark June 24th, 2016 at 15:18

Leaving the EU doesn’t mean they can’t trade with them and participate with them in activities that bolster their economy and the EUs. It does take away some of the power that the EU had over Britton though. The influence of the oligarchy coming from Brussels will be diminished. Now things will have to be negotiated, not just accepted.

To help clarify what I am talking about, I think this article will help … http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/06/24/basta-ya-brussels-british-voters-reject-eu-corporate-slavestate/

“It does take away some of the power that the EU had over Britton though.”

Heh heh heh… Good luck with that!

                  You’ve got it precisely backward.

Now the UK has no leverage over the EU by threatening to leave. The EU can punish them in whatever way it wishes!

Furthermore, the poor White trash who voted for the Brexit were the very people who benefitted from EU protections like minimum wage requirements, family leave, etc…

                  Sound familiar?

Anyone who thinks defeating Mr. Trump will be a cakewalk needs to think again. People need to vote… in every single election… even if it’s a midterm… even if their favourite candidate didn’t win the primary.

                  It’s really not optional.

                  • mea_mark June 24th, 2016 at 16:40

The EU punishing the UK could just make things worse all the way around, it would be stupid to try. If EU dumps austerity and tries stimulus they may very well have the upper hand in the end.

                    • CB June 24th, 2016 at 19:01

“The EU punishing the UK could just make things worse all the way around, it would be stupid to try.”

                      You may be right!

That doesn’t mean they won’t do it… The Brits aren’t the only stupid people in Europe, you know…

  2. Mike June 24th, 2016 at 10:40

The only way it works is if the rest of the country gets to vote and kick Texas out…as a Red State, they’re a drain on our economy…

    • Mike N. June 24th, 2016 at 10:54

      But let us keep Austin!

      • Mike June 24th, 2016 at 11:07

You’ll have to build your own tunnel, we’re gonna build a wall from Louisiana to New Mexico …

  3. Mensa Member June 24th, 2016 at 11:02

    I think he’s confusing it with @TexIdiots

  4. labman57 June 24th, 2016 at 11:20

Great. Let Texas secede and develop its own worthless currency.
Perhaps they can barter in slabs of BBQ beef

    • Larry Schmitt June 24th, 2016 at 11:40

      That’s actually worth something.

  5. anothertoothpick June 24th, 2016 at 11:41

The Texas attitude is ‘Leave us alone; don’t mess with Texas; we want to do it for ourselves.

I say pull the military basses out of texas and then let them go, because one monkey don’t stop no show.

  6. Larry Schmitt June 24th, 2016 at 11:44

When will these morons learn that Texas will not be seceding? The states in the union are not comparable to the independent nations in the EU.

    • mea_mark June 24th, 2016 at 12:25

Ha ha, redneck Texans learn something like that, never going to happen. Texas is like a whole other country to them.

  7. Warman1138 June 24th, 2016 at 12:43

The Texas Nationalists Movement wants to secede…….again…….because they’ve become confused….. again, because of happenings in the EU. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Can I stop laughing now?

  8. Bunya June 24th, 2016 at 13:20

Texas keeps promising us that they’re gonna secede, but they never deliver. I say we force them to secede – and take Alabama with them.

    • William June 24th, 2016 at 13:43

Give them time. First they need to learn how to spell it.

    • The Original Just Me June 24th, 2016 at 21:09

Let’s tale a vote. All of you who want Texas to leave, Flush your toilet.

  9. William June 24th, 2016 at 13:42

I say let ’em go. We are spending way too much money on cleaning up the ravages of the floods and other meteorological anomalies. As we all know floods are a direct result of gay people offending the almighty (Pat Robertson wouldn’t lie). Texas just can’t seem to get their gay problem under control. If this keeps up we’ll again have to shoulder the financial burden of another Jade Helm invasion, and seize more Wal-Marts to imprison dissidents. We just cannot afford Texas anymore.

  10. Clementine June 24th, 2016 at 13:57

All talk, no action. Do we have some spare Bundy-folk around we could send to them to show them how it’s done? Get going, Texas, the rest of us are as anxious as you are. Let me be the first to send you a pallet of blue tarps and a bucket of dildos. You will have to supply your own french vanilla creamer. I ain’t THAT nice.

  11. granpa.usthai June 24th, 2016 at 15:43

    sigh…promises, promises.

Mexico City is a lot closer than Washington, DC to most Texans. Plus they speak the lingo.

So, how much does Mexico want to take Texas back?

  12. bpollen June 24th, 2016 at 16:07

Within a year of secession, they’d be begging for foreign aid.

    • The Original Just Me June 24th, 2016 at 21:07

No Dice, we have pumped all the oil out of Texas now so we don’t need them anymore.

    • fahvel June 25th, 2016 at 02:49

      from whom?

  13. Mensa Member June 24th, 2016 at 19:24

    Miss you already, Texas

You can leave the check for our Federal property on your way out.

    • amersham46 June 24th, 2016 at 20:46

sorry the Bundy clan has first dibs on it for free

  14. The Original Just Me June 24th, 2016 at 21:06

  15. bisquitbrain June 28th, 2016 at 18:17
