Democrats vow to continue their sit-in, in spite of Republican attempts to shut it down.

House Republicans sought to end an extraordinary day of drama and a 16-hour sit-in by Democrats in the early hours of Thursday morning by adjourning for a recess that will last through July 5.

The move is an effort to shut down a protest that began Wednesday morning when Democrats took over the House floor and tried to force votes on gun control. Shortly after 7:00 a.m., about 20 Democrats remained on the House floor, including House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi, and they were determined to continue.

A police officer told the Democrats that they will be conducting a daily security sweep. “I’d ask that you clear the floor while that happens,” the officer said.

Pelosi responded: “That’s not going to happen” and the security check then took place involving five agents and a dog as the House Democratic leader continued speaking, undeterred.

At one point during the morning, Pelosi said the sit-in would continue “until hell freezes over.”

    When the USS Maine blew up in Havana harbor killing 280 Americans, we went to war. When the HMS Lusitania was sunk killing 128 Americans, we went to war. When Pearl harbor was attacked and 2403 Americans were killed, we went to war. After 911 when 2996 Americans were killed we went to war (granted with the wrong country). Between 2001 and 2013 153144 were murdered with firearms and our nation did absolutely NOTHING.

    Oh….and before the ammosexual lobby starts picking away at that number. That’s just homicides. Suicides and police shootings are not included.

      Oh please! There are enough gun laws already on the books and the problem is that they are not enforced. This shooting in Orlando was a Muslim terrorist action and even the most draconian gun laws (like exist in Europe) would not have prevented this terrorist from getting a gun. In fact, none of the proposals now offered would have stopped this man from getting a firearm as he was cleared completely by the FBI. Face it, the most likely reason this man got his gun was the political correctness orders from on high that caused this man to slip through the cracks.

        No such weapons should be in civilian hands, all guns should be registered, and any sale or loss of gun must be reported. Any gun purchase must require liability insurance. Gun ownership must require firearms training, licensing, and thorough background check and waiting period…like any sensible civilized country.

            The Weimar Republic was not allowed to grant guns to civilians, as was that was part of the agreement after WWI. Once in power, Hitler actually allowed some civilians to own guns, his Nazi pals.

            What exactly does Nazi Germany have to do with this subject? Here is a refresher. The subject is the gun violence in the United States of America.     If it isn’t enough that the full blown leftist Democrats have destroyed just about every other facet of normal American life, they now have to go after the very center of constitutional order, the Congress of the United States.

    This thuggish behavior of violating normal Congressional rules, behavior, and decorum jeopardizes the very center of American government and has no place in our government and this is nothing less than an attempt at mob rule by a minority of our elected legislators.

    At some point in the future, even some Democrats will rue the day that these despicable events happened.

They have their allotted times to make their point, civil debate is allowed but the majority party controls the debate – and this is completely unacceptable behavior.         No. Because those are the rules in the Senate. The Democrats have violated numerous congressional rules here, but hey, I’m not really surprised.
