Supreme Court lets stand law banning some semi-automatic weapons

Posted by | June 20, 2016 10:06 | Filed under: Politics

The high court declined to take up a challenge to a Connecticut law passed in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy.

The law bans certain semi-automatic assault weapons and large capacity magazines.

Although the decision comes days after the Orlando shooting, that event probably didn’t move the justices either way. In recent years the Court has declined to take up a major Second Amendment case. In 2008, 5-4 Supreme Court held in District of Columbia v Heller that the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to bear arms, and except for a follow up decision two years later, the court has not weighed in again.

ok…Imagine how much better this Nation will be without the republican wing of the Supreme Court, selling out our Nation to the NRA and to the Corporate wing of the GOP…May President Hillary Clinton appoint many Supreme court Justices during her Eight Year Tenure…

Awaiting the outcry from the NRA and gun fanatics:
“Who cares what the SCOTUS thinks? Since when do they get to decide what is and isn’t constitutional?”

When I was eight years old, I started using firearms. I even owned a single shot pistol at eight. I was taught how and why to use a gun. A firearm is used in Civilian Life as a Sport, Hunting, Competitive, and Recreational devise. That is how all Americans WERE brought up. Now days, the people are being taught, advised, and trained to believe that a firearm is only to be used to kill other people, of coarse as in self defense. No longer is a firearm a devise of pleasure or hunting, they are now only thought of as a Human Killing devise. That is what is wrong with America Today.
