Trump’s response to not paying taxes: ‘Welcome to the real estate business’

Posted by | June 17, 2016 16:51 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

This is how the person who won’t release his tax returns responds.

…Trump did not pay any income tax, or paid very little income tax, in 1991 and 1993, according to documents obtained by Politico and published Friday.

The documents showed that Trump did not pay taxes due to losses on properties he owned, not due to any illegal activity.

“Welcome to the real estate business,” Trump told Politico in an emailed response to the documents.

Donald feebly attempts a Jedi mind trick on the U.S. electorate:
“My unethical business practices and questionable tax filings are not the character flaws that you care about.”

He really means; welcome to the 1% tax club.

He’s essentially saying, everyone does it, so that makes it okay.

How do business losses allow him to avoid paying personal income taxes? His corporation paid him a large salary with bonuses. Why is someone allowed to take business losses against his personal income? I was under the impression that the two were supposed to be kept separate, unless you’re a sole proprietor.

Claimed losses , paid no taxes, but was able to walk off with pockets full of cash

This is why the IRS says if you ‘lose money 3 years in a row? You own a non-deductible hobby!’ “Trump deducted $626,264 as expenses on his 1984 federal income tax return, and $619,227 on his New York City return. On both forms, he claimed no income.” http://www.alan.com/2016/06/17/trump-declared-no-income-in-year-he-bragged-to-press-how-much-cash-he-was-raking-in/
