Former soldier sentenced to 20 years in prison for plotting to kill DEA agent and drug trafficking

Hunter, 51, pleaded guilty on Feb. 13 2015. Manhattan Federal Judge
Laura Taylor Swain also hit Hunter with 10 years of supervised release.

Hunter hired in 2013 four ex-soldiers — including another Army vet, as
well as one Polish and two German servicemen — to work as hitmen for
Colombian drug traffickers. They were also contracted to provide
security to the narcos, Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara’s office
    charged.

For once I think Glen has a reason to cry on or off his cable show. If it hasn’t been yanked off the air too

Fox dumped him a couple years ago. I think he’s relegated to the internet now.

Apparently Glen made arrangements to form ” the blaze ” TV in Texas Don’t know what to say about what happened at FN ? It seems to take forever at that network who is telling a bigger bs story

            • Larry Schmitt June 1st, 2016 at 07:43

I thought Blaze was strictly internet, but it is available on some cable systems. Complete waste of electrons.

I see no cause for hope in our future. If the GOP prevents the spirit -filled s***heads from installing the trump as their Fürher, the bullet boxes will be opened and every G Zimmerman wannabe will go on a rampage to rival Rwanda’s mass murders. If the trump does get elected, the same god-ol’boy s***heads will be so elated they will do the exact same thing, except with a nod & a wink from their Commander in Chief… and the repugnacun Congress will pretend to be horrified while secretly thanking the trump for accomplishing their New American Century project of culling the Queers & brownskins & librulls & weed-smokers etc etc. You read it here first, folks. Hope I’m wrong but I doubt it. Just call me Benjamin Mule.

Like most people, I feel good when something nice happens to a friend. Typically, it’s not an overwhelming feeling, but today is different. The words ‘elated’ or ‘thrilled’ would be no exaggeration. I can’t wipe this smile offa my face, even though I had nothing to do with it.

Last year I met a homeless man. James is a good guy. You’d like him. He doesn’t have the sorts of mental demons that seem to afflict many homeless people I’ve known. Like the rest of us, James has made mistakes in life and the price for him has been rather severe. He’s about 60.
We met one evening in a McDonald’s when I was online, blabbering here or somewhere else. He could see I was busy, but sat next to me and offered me a cupcake. I turned him down, suspicious. I mean, who does that to a stranger? I could see he was homeless and didn’t want to take food from someone who needed it more than I did. Somehow I’d forgotten a lesson I learned long ago about giving.

I believe giving results in receiving. I was at a place once for several weeks and made a point of helping out in the kitchen. I figured it was good of me to help wash dishes and clean up, and it was, to a point. I volunteered every night, knowing something good would come back to me. Then one night it dawned on me that by volunteering every night, I was taking the place of someone else who would have been blessed to volunteer. In a way I was cheating someone else. Plus, my heart wasn’t in the right place. This was a mighty important life lesson for me and I began to volunteer less in order that someone else could receive the benefits of giving.
I should have taken that cupcake.

James went to jail for a year and a half and got out in 2009. He lost everything he had and has been homeless ever since. James is a veteran, a former Navy corpsman, and has been battling the VA and other social services providers all this time. When he got out of jail, he still had fines to pay and was dunned 25% of his paycheck on a job paying $9.25 an hour. It’s been a tough ride and I don’t know how he’s found the strength to both persist and keep his chin up.

About an hour ago we parted company after a nice visit during which James told me his claim had finally gone through and he had been approved for government assistance that will make a small apartment affordable. What did it was help he got from a group of angels in my community known as Micah Ecumenical Ministries. Someone down there rolled up her sleeves, knew who to contact and how to work the system and managed to cut through red tape.
I’m thrilled for the guy. I feel like a little kid on Christmas even though I had nothing to do with this, but I’m elated just the same. I told James I would keep an eye out for a place. I didn’t want to say more, but I’m pretty sure I can line him up an apartment. If James gets his check tomorrow like he’s supposed to, I’m confident I can help him find a place. Once he’s got that check it will be my top priority.
I don’t think situations like this arise in life by chance, at least not many times. I think we are given opportunities to do good and we should make the effort rather than retreat into our cocoons, figuring out ways and excuses to not have the time.

I’ve written here previously about Micah. Over the years I’m sure they have saved hundreds, if not thousands of lives. Their website (below) doesn’t tell the half of what they do for the homeless in this area. They provide food, tents, sleeping bags, clothing, shower facilities and much, much more. They serve as a mail drop. They help people get medical care. These angels operate a cold weather homeless shelter and a bus to get people there. I know a great deal about Micah, for I have seen daily, firsthand, things they do for people society shuns. I not only know what they do but how the place is run. They are very efficient with their funding. The people in charge are not spending it on themselves. They don’t fly off to conferences at St. Tropez or ant of the kinds of things we occasionally hear of other outfits.
When I think of how much they do, sometimes my eyes get a bit moist, like right now. I feel shamed at the little I do to help out because at Micah are people who serve selflessly all day, every day. It ain’t easy.

If you have a few bucks and are looking for a worthy charity to donate to, please consider Micah.

Now you’ve done it: You went and got all socially relevant! That’s IT! You’re featured!!
(Hope it helps…I’ll give what I can when I can, having been there…the VA tries, but there are so many that “slip through the cracks”, as it were…)

      • burqa June 2nd, 2016 at 20:55

First off, I’d like to thank the academy….

Wow, I’m speechless, seriously. This is my first time. Thanks for being gentle.
James is such a good guy and deserves to catch a break. This last winter was brutal and the shelters were overflowing.
This issue is important to me. It is something I think about a lot because I deal with homeless people nearly every day. I think it is not just important to realize that there is this thing out there going on, but there are people doing extraordinary things to help.
They are all over the place, if people would just look. I am sure my community is not unique. I bet there are angels like those I described at Micah in other communities of users here. They need to be recognized and supported and praised.
They need more attention and this is also the kind of good-news story we need more of in these all-too-dark days where the airwaves and newspapers are filled with such rancor, division and hatred.

        Like Marvin sang,
“We’ve got to find a way
To bring some love in here today.
        What’s going on?….”

self made Billionaire sees 9 billion net worth go up in smoke in less then 2 yrs.

    ———————–

Last year, Elizabeth Holmes topped the FORBES list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women with a net worth of $4.5 billion. Today, FORBES is lowering our estimate of her net worth to nothing. Theranos had no comment.

Our estimate of Holmes’ wealth is based entirely on her 50% stake in
Theranos, the blood-testing company she founded in 2003 with plans of
revolutionizing the diagnostic test market. Theranos shares are not
traded on any stock market; private investors purchased stakes in 2014
at a price that implied a $9 billion valuation for the company.

Since then, Theranos has been hit with allegations that its tests are
inaccurate and is being investigated by an alphabet soup of federal
agencies. That, plus new information indicating Theranos’ annual
revenues are less than $100 million, has led FORBES to come up with a
new, lower estimate of Theranos’ value.

Trump is an alleged-billionaire at best.

He owes everybody a tanker-load of money.

That’s why he won’t release his tax returns.

      As a businessman, he’s a total loser.
