Rams car into Walmart because rapture is coming

Posted by | April 21, 2016 09:43 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Religion

The South Carolina woman believed the world is ending, so she did the logical thing–rammed her car into Walmart.

Crystal Marshall slammed into the store late Monday in Camden, jumped out of her car and began screaming at bystanders, reported WIS-TV.

The 34-year-old Marshall told police that the Rapture was coming and “God told her to do it.”

No injuries were reported in the crash, which cause about $1,000 in damage to the building.

Yep. I have crazy hair, I typically flat iron it when I go to visit Anomaly so I don’t startle her in the airport.

I know. I know. People are going to use this sad story as an opportunity to let their anti-religious bigot flags fly.

But, if you confuse mental illness and religion, then you don’t understand religion. (or mental illness)

      There is some overlap.

Now where do you suppose she got the idea to run her car into a Wal-Mart? I can guarantee it wasn’t from the ASU.

I disagree. Unshakable belief in a being with no proof of that being’s existence is a form of self-delusion. Hearing “God” taking to you is a form of hallucination. Being delusional & hallucinatory are pretty good starts on what we “enlightened” people currently call mental illness. You may disagree, but I am hard-pressed not to attribute much of what these “faithful” say to total and complete cognitive disassociation. So it is my position that all truly “religious” people are suffering from one form of mental illness or another. Further, I say imputing acts we don’t like to a “religion” is simply a cover for not dealing with mentally ill people. It’s much easier to dismiss murder and genocide if it is couched as part of someone’s “religion”. Otherwise we might have to deal with it face on for what it really is and admit that human beings are often nasty, craven, and downright horrible creatures.

So then, religious belief is not based on delusionary thinking? Basing one’s entire worldview on imaginary entities is not an issue? Where do you draw the line between mental illness and religious delusion and what criteria do you use?

Poor thing is mentally ill…it’s a cry for help…
Add the belief in a mystical deity who promises to destroy the Earth in a hail of fire and brimstone…well, let’s just say it doesn’t help.
