Texas Republicans debating secession at convention

Posted by | April 18, 2016 13:29 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Nice way to waste time.

A group that advocates for Texas seceding from the United States says at least 22 local Republican conventions passed resolutions last month that called for a vote on secession at the state convention, The Houston Chronicle reported Friday.

Ten of the counties confirmed to the newspaper that the resolutions passed at their conventions, but an official count is not expected until May. That goes to show the Texas Nationalist Movement has gained some momentum since 2012, when a secession resolution passed at just one county convention, according to the Chronicle.

A party committee will consider introducing the resolutions at the state GOP convention, which is scheduled to take place May 12-14 in Dallas. But secession is expected to be shot down at the convention, the newspaper reported.

This is why we need free or very affordable education everywhere in America. There is simply way too much ignorance and stupidity.

First time I tried crawfish, in Biloxi, it looked like a bunch of bugs when they poured them out on the table. But they were good anyway.

                    • whatthe46 April 18th, 2016 at 15:01

did you pinch and suck? or just pinch?

                    • Larry Schmitt April 18th, 2016 at 15:13

I don’t remember, it was over 30 years ago, when I was in the Air Force.

                    • whatthe46 April 18th, 2016 at 15:25

                      time to try ’em again.

I really miss hanging out with my friends and some family. LOL

      • ohpaleasegivemeabreak April 18th, 2016 at 15:32

        Or were home schooled.

        • whatthe46 April 18th, 2016 at 15:42

doesn’t seem like it makes that much of a difference huh? unless you have educated parents to pick up the slack for what they aren’t learning in school. and to correct them on what they are learning. (like the new history books that came out stating that slaves were refugees).

  2. Snick1946 April 18th, 2016 at 13:52

    The ‘party of Lincoln.”

This is sedition. Lincoln would have hanged the lot of them. Ignorant bastards.

  3. james, lord of devonshire April 18th, 2016 at 14:45

so if they break-away, they won’t get federal funding (I think)
I haven’t studied it but I question whether their economy would last to Christmas.

    • Mike April 18th, 2016 at 16:20

      Christmas…??? You mean Memorial Day…

      • james, lord of devonshire April 18th, 2016 at 17:01

I’m not even American. I mentioned Christmas because I’m not even sure when Memorial day is.

        • Mike April 18th, 2016 at 17:27

6 weeks away, May 31st (historically)or thereabouts with the new 3 day weekend calendar.

          • james, lord of devonshire April 18th, 2016 at 17:29

            thanks.

  4. Christopher Smith April 18th, 2016 at 14:47

Will Texass *never* stop teasing us with promises?

    • John_St_John April 19th, 2016 at 12:52

They are like the adulterous business exec who keeps telling his strung along secretary/mistress that he will be leaving his wife and kids any day now.

  5. William April 18th, 2016 at 14:50

One day their all aghast over an imaginary invasion, and the next they are begging for federal handouts. Then the next they want to become their own country.

    • whatthe46 April 18th, 2016 at 14:52

      really rather annoying isn’t it?

      • William April 18th, 2016 at 15:06

I say, let ’em go. They can start their own country “Jesusland” and make Glenn Beck president. I might even be ok with a wall.

        • whatthe46 April 18th, 2016 at 15:07

um, before that wall is built, I need to pack.

          • William April 18th, 2016 at 15:09

We’ll welcome you as a refuge.

            • whatthe46 April 18th, 2016 at 15:11

why does that sound like, really bad?

              • William April 18th, 2016 at 15:13

You could return to “Nawlins” and teach goober as a second language to missionary’s who are headed to Texas to teach subjects like Evolution.

        • Larry Schmitt April 18th, 2016 at 15:14

Their flag will be a chalkboard.

        • Mike April 18th, 2016 at 16:19

          I would actually demand a wall….

    • Larry Schmitt April 18th, 2016 at 15:03

One thing that would happen is the Treasury’s printing plant for currency in Fort Worth would move. So what would they use for money? All those military bases with their jobs? Gone.

      • William April 18th, 2016 at 15:08

They can use Bibles and bullets as currency

        • John_St_John April 19th, 2016 at 12:50

Beads, shells and pieces of wood.

  6. Larry Schmitt April 18th, 2016 at 14:55

Secession wasn’t legal the first time they did it (that’s why we fought the war), and it’s not legal today. They can talk all they want, but it won’t happen. The fact that they keep talking about it shows what ignorant fools they are.

    • james, lord of devonshire April 18th, 2016 at 14:58

I thought that it was their idea to join the union in the first place, after seceding from Mexico.

      • Mike April 18th, 2016 at 16:17

They won their independence from Mexico in 1836. then became an independent Republic. In 1845, Texas joined the United States as the 28th state. But that set off the Mex/Amer war in 1846…then it seceded in 1861 to join the Confederate States of America..(it was a slave state)

        • james, lord of devonshire April 18th, 2016 at 17:00

          thank you.

  7. Seabeacon April 18th, 2016 at 15:07

    Oh PLEASE secede…y’all!

    • PattyJM May 26th, 2016 at 04:37

And take the rest of the old confederacy with you when you go!

  8. allison1050 April 18th, 2016 at 15:07

Well gee whiz, maybe they better remember WHERE most of the state’s money comes from.

    • whatthe46 April 18th, 2016 at 15:08

you’re talking about ignorant retardicans ok.

  9. BillTheCat45 April 18th, 2016 at 15:11

The new country of Texas would be poorer than Mexico

    • whatthe46 April 18th, 2016 at 15:11

now, Mexico will be the one wanting to build the damn wall.

      • Larry Schmitt April 18th, 2016 at 15:17

They’ll dredge the Rio Bravo and turn it into a moat. Probably be cheaper.

        • Mike April 18th, 2016 at 16:12

          And fill it with gators….

          • whatthe46 April 18th, 2016 at 22:17

so stole my line from 6 hours ago. LOL

            • Mike April 19th, 2016 at 01:28

OK, throw in some sharks too…

              • John_St_John April 19th, 2016 at 12:48

Electric eels, Piranha and a few hundred Leopard Seals and call it done.

                • Mike April 19th, 2016 at 13:21

Is there still room for Shamu the killer whale….???

                  • John_St_John April 19th, 2016 at 16:33

      • Bunya April 19th, 2016 at 13:59

I certainly wouldn’t want an undocumented Louie Gohmert sneaking into my country. That’s fer sure!

    • CHOCOL8MILK April 18th, 2016 at 21:46

Yup, and severely uneducated. 5,000 year old earth and the sciences thought of as the devils work.

  10. Mike April 18th, 2016 at 16:11

    How can I help…???

Please let this happen…Texas is a red state which means it’s a taker state and costs us money…

  11. Suzanne McFly April 18th, 2016 at 16:13

Let them secede then I know the perfect candidate that can be their new King.

  12. OldLefty April 18th, 2016 at 16:21

    My favorite line, (I don’t know from where I heard it);
‘The party of Lincoln and Union has become the party of Lincoln’s assassin and secession.’

  13. Jodie April 18th, 2016 at 16:28

Go ahead. Don’t ask America to help you in any shape, form, or fashion. Buh-bye!

  14. Foundryman April 18th, 2016 at 16:35

Good, the border across the north of Texas is shorter than with Mexico, the wall won’t take as long to build to keep all those Texas asshats out of our country!!

  15. Dwendt44 April 18th, 2016 at 17:32

    I’ll help them pack.

  16. dewired4u April 18th, 2016 at 18:02

We pull the military out build a wall around Austin and then require all Texans to go through strip searches, body cavity exams and show a passport before entering the states and they have to wear a tracking anklet so we know if they over stay and they can’t use our restrooms. Let’s do this…….

    • whatthe46 April 18th, 2016 at 22:14

ok fine. how about you say in your next post, when this stupidity arises, that you’re not talking about your friends who happen to live here. talking about me.

      • John_St_John April 19th, 2016 at 12:45

Liberals and Progressives will be given aide up to and including air lifting you to the Free States of the United States of America.

      • amersham46 April 18th, 2016 at 22:24

not to worry , a lot of blue states will accept undocumented refugees from Texas

        • whatthe46 April 18th, 2016 at 22:33

if i am called an “undocumented refugee” again, i will become a cyber micro or whatever it is, and pop someones butt through the computer. LOL

      • amersham46 April 18th, 2016 at 22:30

You could use my country house , it is about 10 minutes outside of Troyes

        • whatthe46 April 18th, 2016 at 23:50

where’s Troyes? are you playing with me?

          • amersham46 April 19th, 2016 at 00:05

  18. CHOCOL8MILK April 18th, 2016 at 21:57

They’ve been brainwashing Spongebob for a long time. Innocence is dead. Curse you Sandy Cheeks!

  19. bpollen April 19th, 2016 at 04:19

If they vote to secede at their party convention, we should just GIVE it to Mexico. Hey, Mexico, here’s your stinking desert back!

  20. John_St_John April 19th, 2016 at 12:43

Do not let the proverbial door hit you on the ass on your way out. Oh and you might want to consider that all of that military hardware you claim to own. That belongs to the Federal Government and the People of the United States of America, not the mini fiefdom of Koch Brothers Texas.
