Each story like this reinforces my belief that any candidate should be required to resign whatever elected position he holds before running for any other position. If that law were on the books, NJ would have a full time governor, and Texas and Florida would have full time senators. As it stands now, none of them are risking anything. When they lose, they just go back to the job they were doing poorly in the first place.

Kentucky had a law that made this a problem for Rand Paul. So they changed it. The people of this country never get the government that they should have.

From that story: “Sen. Paul reaffirmed his intent to pay for the caucus. $250,000 is to be raised or transferred to (the Republican Party of Kentucky) by September 18.”
He’s not paying for it at all. His campaign is, meaning his contributors. It’s not costing him a cent of his own money.

It’s pretty disgusting, isn’t it? Screw the rest of the voters, the party and his donors are making the government they want.

That’s crazy talk! What company wouldn’t keep paying while I didn’t show up for work 75% of the time while interviewing for a better job?

      • Larry Schmitt January 22nd, 2016 at 12:17

You’re right. Expecting Congress to pass a law like that is like expecting red state voters to keep voting against their own interests. Crazy, isn’t it?

They only “resign” when there is a looming scandal.

      See Sarah Palin.

He is only interested in being a hopeful now… hahaha.

    • anothertoothpick January 22nd, 2016 at 12:28

If New Jersey is lucky, he will NEVER get back.

if the big guy has access to his NJ TAXPAYER funded CH-54 Tarhe with specially designed governor hoist, he’ll most likely be back – if only for a quick snack of a few gross of pizzas.

I wonder if Obama regrets reaching out to this fat clown.

      • Gina Bousquet January 22nd, 2016 at 13:44

“Noblesse oblige”! Do you have this saying? “Nobility requires”.

        • Larry Schmitt January 22nd, 2016 at 13:48

No equivalent saying in English, we just use the French.

          • Gina Bousquet January 22nd, 2016 at 15:29

            Thank you Larry! :)

        • anothertoothpick January 22nd, 2016 at 13:55

Gina you are like a Renaissance woman.

          I had to “google” it.

          And now I get it.

          Great post.

          You must read a LOT!

          hahahahahahah

You’re not far from the truth, that’s very nice to hear. :)

      • F_cons January 22nd, 2016 at 13:48

I’m sure he doesn’t. He doesn’t care about, or respond to republic*nt idiots. He let’s their flung sh*t fall off and does the correct (I’ll never use right for anything positive again) thing as always

  3. granpa.usthai January 22nd, 2016 at 13:34

can’t really blame the big guy for wanting to stay away – probably will be some bridge closings – and we all know how much it cost the NJ TAXPAYERS to find their governor innocent of bridge closings last time around. I don’t think the judge will give an absolute innocent verdict for anything less the second time around.

UPDATE: Apparently Krispy Kreme changed his mind after being shamed into coming back to NJ for the storm. I am picturing a live interview with him over the weekend to make the point that has not abandoned his state during any of the big storms they’ve had.

    • maggie January 23rd, 2016 at 15:37

      ;) he’s just doesn’t have a chance…he’s dmned if he does or doesn’t….

      • mistlesuede January 23rd, 2016 at 16:02

I think Mayor DeBlasio of NY made him look awful. He’d been making preparations for days and he was asked about the NJ Governor. He said something like “a storm like this takes precedence over politics.” Oh snap.
