NC Town Rejects Solar Farm As Resident Fears It Would ‘Suck Up All The Energy From The Sun’

And you wonder why Donald Trump has a following.

Bobby Mann said he watched communities dry up when I-95 came along and warned that would happen to Woodland because of the solar farms.

“You’re killing your town,” he said. “All the young people are going to move out.”

He said the solar farms would suck up all the energy from the sun and businesses would not come to Woodland.

I am much less bothered by denying solar panels because of ignorance than Ted Kennedy denying wind farms because it would ruin views.

    • angriestdogintheworld December 13th, 2015 at 17:36

Oh, please. Those windmills could have been put anywhere. They didn’t have to be right off one of the most scenic pieces of coastline in the whole country. Someone just wanted to say “F*** you” to Ted Kennedy by putting them there. It was personal and he objected.

    • John_Doe December 14th, 2015 at 10:38

If you are truly more upset at Ted Kennedy then you are a simple-minded right wing fool! If you can not understand the difference between ruining the view from a community simply because someone was trying to piss off the residents and the absolute moron level of science understanding of the citizens of South Carolina then I wonder how you have the mental capacity to remember to breathe. You are one ignorant troll.

      Wow…you shouldn’t be!

      • BillPasadena December 15th, 2015 at 11:07

Some dumbass in Jerkwater, USA doesn’t have the power or influence that Ted Kennedy had.
Shouldn’t Teddy be held to a higher standard?

        • tracey marie December 15th, 2015 at 11:13

hey dummy, Ted is dead and he did not want his view ruined…he did not fear the sun losing all it’s power

  2. MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou December 13th, 2015 at 16:51

Yeah, one guy and his wife, who’s a retired science teacher.

  3. Charlie Seivard December 13th, 2015 at 17:37

Your NC education system at work.

  4. KIp December 13th, 2015 at 19:34

The town council was obviously influenced by the Wiie E. Coyote Acme book of science.

  5. amersham46 December 13th, 2015 at 20:29

This story has made it to the Independent (UK) and their readers are equally impressed with the NC education system

Well, well being from North Carolina it appears that the Koch brother , their dark seth “Art Pope” and ALEC AND The Duke of Power has found themselves another batch of republican gypsies tramps and thieves that are willing to sell themselves for 20 pieces of silver. The Duke of Power is lobbying hard to make sure that nobody gets solar unless it goes through their meter first ….since North Carolina is the Meth lab for Right wing wacko policy before they go national . rest assured, if they win in 2016 this will be coming to a town near you anywhere in the nation..

  7. Windsong December 14th, 2015 at 01:03

here is a new new report that will give you guys a bit to meditate on before you place your bets that may cost you your life…..

Failing phytoplankton, failing oxygen: Global warming disaster could suffocate life on planet Earth

An increase in the water temperature of the world’s oceans of around six degrees Celsius — which some scientists predict could occur as soon as 2100 — could stop oxygen production by phytoplankton by disrupting the process of photosynthesis

    http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/12/151201094120.htm

Exxon just made a announcement that this can happen if we follow the path laid out bu the National oil hooker the Republican party

Bombshell: Exxon Admits World Will Warm By Catastrophic 7-12°F If Republicans Get Their Way http://www.occupydemocrats.com/bombshell-exxon-admits-world-will-warm-by-catastrophic-7-12f-if-republicans-get-their-way/

basically, climate deniers should be jailed for crimes against humanity.

“There is no pain in change , only resistance to change causes pain. ”

America needs to get started on a transitional economy along with the rest of the world.

the Republican party needs to join the winning team or they may find themselves in the Nuremberg trials of the future .

Try telling that to Palm Springs residents next summer, when the temperature will exceed 120 degrees and they have wind farms and solar panels everywhere.

    • Robert Kennedy December 17th, 2015 at 02:35

Good thing they do so they can use their AC without causing brownouts.

I understand the rich and powerful get their way in this country, that’s how the system is set up.
Sooner or later the rich have to start paying their fair share.
Poor people would never be able to get a major energy project canceled because they didn’t want it in their neighborhood.
That’s why being rich in America is so important.

    • jodib December 15th, 2015 at 11:33

What’s unfortunate is global warming already disproportionally affects the poor and the marginalized. It will continue to get worse. Stop fighting this silly battle on a comment thread and start advocating for yourself and the other poor and marginalized people. And that includes advocating for education and also for solar panels. And it also means seeing which candidates represent your ideals and needs- they are often NOT republican.

      • BillPasadena December 16th, 2015 at 12:39

As long as there is a double standard for the rich there is zero chance of the problem ever being fixed.
Here in California we were told water shortage, cut back. Of course the rich areas kept using water and keeping their lawns green.
Because poor people cut back, less profit made selling water. So prices are going up. The poor are once again screwed.

  11. BillPasadena December 14th, 2015 at 18:22

Not just Teddy, all the rich people that live the rich privileged lifestyle. That includes rich people of both parties and the rich people that ignore politics.

    • tracey marie December 15th, 2015 at 11:13

deflection trolling makes you look stupid.

    • Merlin December 16th, 2015 at 11:46

How did you get a computer, and figure out where to put your fingers?

      • BillPasadena December 16th, 2015 at 12:31

You disagree that the rich are allowed to get away with more that the poor can?

  12. Thomas Martin December 15th, 2015 at 13:17

Must be a bunch of ignorant republicans who listen to Trump.

  13. cruisersailor December 15th, 2015 at 17:27

Bill Maher keeps saying that Americans are stupid. I know the Republicans are stupid and proud of it.

    • Mike December 21st, 2015 at 15:55

3 of the 4 council members are DEMOCRATS and the school teacher is ALSO A DEMOCRAT.

  14. NIGHTWATCH ABCP ........ December 15th, 2015 at 21:46

Silly town. The power could be utilized during the night, that way there would STILL be enough “light” left to use during the day …………..

  15. Laqudis December 16th, 2015 at 04:45

Well its N. Carolina, obviously not a lot of critical thinkers there.

    • Mike December 21st, 2015 at 16:09

Everyone involved is a Democrat except the one Council member that voted in favor of the zoning change, that would allow the solar system. He is a Republican named Cecil Harkey.

The story isn’t what it seems. The story is slanted. ONE idiot guy made the comment about the sun being sucked up. The majority were concerned about property values and aesthetics. They already have THREE other solar farms in the town. The story is a left wing version of a right wing lie

  17. Mike December 21st, 2015 at 15:57

3 of the 4 council members are Democrats. The one member that voted for the zoning change that would allow the solar system to be installed is a Republican. His name is Cecil Harkey. The stupid teacher is a Democrat. Her name is Jane Mann.
