Former Oath Keeper Prepping Open Carry March For Blacks In Ferguson
He wants to prove how safe it is for blacks to have guns in Ferguson, MO.
Sam Andrews, a white gun shop owner, told the paper he wanted to hold the rally in Ferguson after being told by African-Americans the Second Amendment doesn’t extend to them equally because they felt they’d be shot for openly carrying guns.
“We intend to show that this right is not just for white people,” Andrews told the Post-Dispatch.
The group, which he said will be racially integrated, will listen to speeches then march about three blocks to Ferguson police headquarters.

what I would like to say to the African American men and women of ferguson….you do realize the founder of the oath keepers was just disbarred from practicing law…for violating the law….you know what your mother said…just because your lemming friend jumps off the cliff…that doesn’t mean you should and just because it’s legal doesn’t make it the wise thing to do…might does not make right….I want to point our that the protestors at Mizzou managed to make change effect change ….without a single weapon…without setting anything on fire…they used their student offices and student athletic organizations and student body for free speech….and my advice is to for you to move into judicial chambers and attorney general postions and prosecutorial positions in the courtroom rather than picking up a gun….broad social change is made through non-violent free speech and the courtroom….

Some good points, but honestly… it would be really telling if they were treated differently than a group of white guys walking down the street with their guns.
There doesn’t have to be any violence… although, I suppose it’s naive to think the cops would just let it go.

hey I think if they have a legitimate reason to have a weapon….for their job or for hunting and they store it properly….you know that is legal….what the oath keepers are proposing is putting people into harms way …with an armed confrontation….I am against that….

I think the reality this march would lay bare would be good for people to see.
On the other hand, it would most likely result in some level of violence and I can’t condone that either.

I do think you are partially right….and the reason I think so is the gun rights community is feeling threatened right now that their carte blache card for gun rights is going to be curtailed ….which is justifiably should…so by inviting other communities to engage in their craziness….they are hoping to get more converts to the gun rights fight….so their motives are not pure….and will lead the deaths of more innocents in my opinion….for me it’s not about wanting to deny rights to communities of color…..it’s about wanting to warn them of these charlatans who really don’t have their best interests at heart and are not in an ongoing relationship with them enough to care about them….;(

We also have to keep in mind that this guy left the Oath Keepers when they weren’t down with a racially integrated march.
So, there’s a whole other dimension to this particular instance.

AGAIN, i’m not for open carry.

I get what you are saying “because it’s legal” why shouldn’t they do it as well….every person in ferguson will have to answer that question for themselves…do they thing as a general policy that it’s wise for people to be able to openly carry loaded assault rifles around for no reason…other than they can…..because that is the debate…..my suggestions for the ferguson community if they believe in the right to own a weapon but don’t believe in this wholesale right to just carry a loaded assault weapon around …just because you feel like it is to carry a sign that says….”My weapon is at home safely locked and stored….” ;)

TM. but, i would, like i just said, let them, the black community, walk it alone. they should be able to feel safe doing what every American citizen has a right to do, without a shadow. and again i say, WE DON’T NEED TO HAVE THIS OPEN CARRY LAW PERIOD! white, black, brown, yellow, or fk’n rainbow, i see anyone walking around with a gun, i’m going the opposite way.

yes but do you think that is the message (a black teen can’t even walk around unarmed minding his/her own business without getting shot….why shouldn’t they carry to protect themselves against the very real threat of state violence against minorities….as opposed to the manufactured threat created by racist cops…currently working, off duty or retired…..practically speaking would law enforcement “get the point” (pardon the pun)? or would it inflame an already abusive relationship between the state and the community…resulting in more deaths…but I think you make a suggestion that would be an interesting experiment…..would law enforcement be intelligent enough to get the message that would be my question….or would they respond “we (law enforcement) will manufacture our excuses as we always have go ahead”….that is what I see that’s all I’m saying….

the issue for me and i think you’ll agree, is that it isn’t necessary for anyone to open carry. let alone conceal carry. for what purpose other than whether or not you can prove that your life is in danger. and being afraid of a black man asking you for a lite, isn’t a justifible reason to conceal carry.

i get you……that his testimony doesn’t even count….in the same way the testimony though out history is counted less because history has valued that class of person as less than fully human….even with a so called “jury of one’s peers” in name only….testimony is not considered equally credible…..even with the “gains ” in voting and civil rights….minorities are not perceived as citizens in full with a right to equal protection…….an equal right not to be harmed or harassed…or molested ..etc etc…I hope that is what you are saying….I think that is what you are saying….
