Brown: CA Wildfires Because Of Climate Change

Posted by | October 19, 2015 11:30 | Filed under: Planet Politics

California Governor Jerry Brown believes climate change is responsible for the state’s wildfires.

The wilderness fire was “a real wake-up call” to reduce the carbon pollution “that is in many respects driving all of this,” he said.

“The fires are changing…. The way this fire performed, it’s not the way it usually has been. Going in lots of directions, moving fast, even without hot winds.”

“It’s a new normal,” he said in August. “California is burning.”

Brown had political reasons for his declaration.

He had just challenged Republican presidential candidates to state their agendas on global warming. He was embroiled in a fight with the oil industry over legislation to slash gasoline use in California. And he is seeking to make a mark on international negotiations on climate change that culminate in Paris in December.

And what caused all the wildfires in California 5000 years ago? Hey, my coffee was too hot this morning, must be climate change!

    • DogsRgoodpeople October 19th, 2015 at 13:26

And our planet is only 6 thousand years old ?

    • whatthe46 October 19th, 2015 at 13:46

there was a california 5k years ago?

    • Bunya October 19th, 2015 at 13:56

Don’t be silly! Climate change isn’t responsible for the California wildfires. It was the gays. Just ask Pat Robertson, he’ll tell you. Besides, he’s old enough to have been in California (I wonder who the governor was back then) 5000 years ago, so he probably got his information straight from God.

      • rg9rts October 19th, 2015 at 15:02

and still won’t let his gay grandson bring a friend…why the friend would go there is beyond me

      • William October 19th, 2015 at 15:19

Is there any doubt whatsoever on just where he gets his information?

        • whatthe46 October 19th, 2015 at 15:29

that made my head hurt. how stoooopid!

I think the Gays cause hurricanes, rain, etc. Right Wing Christian Scientist aren’t sure what causes heat waves. I’m guessing they’ll accuse the Holy Moly Church of the Almighty Atheist.
If they are right about Gays causing wet and windy weather, we need to import them in greater numbers. lol

      “the science is not settled”

Yes it is, you rwnj’s are still in denial, along with equality, blacks are discriminated against, trump is Presidential material and god listens when you pray to it for your football team.

See you didn’t forget your stupid pill this morning

    • William October 19th, 2015 at 15:15

That’s right. Why listen to the vast majority of scientists well versed in this matter, when dropouts Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity can give you the REAL story.

sometimes it’s wiser to keep idiotic comments to yourself. that way someone might respect an opinion of yours if it were based on something other than ignorance.

“effects of global climate change include more frequent wildfires, longer periods of drought in some regions and an increase in the number, duration and intensity of tropical storms.”-Global Warming accelerates wildfires. http://climate.nasa.gov/effects/ And from yesterday http://disq.us/8pf37x

Temperature is a property of matter. It describes the degree or intensity of heat present in a substance. When you speak of an “average temperature”, you need to identify the objects whose temperatures have been averaged.

The above graph refers to a “global average temperature”. A true global average would be the average temperature of all of the matter making up the globe, including the earth’s core and mantle. Obviously that is not what is meant by the phrase “global average”.

The question is, on what parts of the earth’s matter was the above graph based? Does it include water temperatures? If so, at what depths? Does it include air temperatures? If so, at what elevations? Does it include land mass? If so, at what elevations and at what depths?

The graph begins in the year 1880. The University of Southern CA opened in that year with 53 students and 10 teachers. Please describe the scientific infrastructure that was capable of determining a global average temperature with precision of 0.1 degree F in the year 1880.

In other words, you don’t know how the global average temperature is derived. For you it is a matter of faith, not science. Fine.

But long as you’re basing your faith on the “97% of scientists” claim, can you at least explain how that figure was obtained? Which scientists were surveyed, what questions were asked, and which question got a 97% positive response?
