U.S. Forces Staying In Afghanistan Longer Than Expected

The White House announced it will not draw down troops in Afghanistan as early as expected.

The decision to maintain 9,800 troops in Afghanistan until nearly the end of Obama’s time in office comes after months of discussions with Afghanistan’s president, Ashraf Ghani, and the nation’s CEO, Abdullah Abdullah, senior administration officials said Wednesday night. Obama also consulted with U.S. military commanders on the ground in Afghanistan as well as his entire national security team, officials added.

According to the new White House plan, the number of U.S. military personnel in Afghanistan would drop to 5,500 by early 2017, as Obama prepares to leave office. At that point, U.S. forces would be based in the Afghan capital of Kabul, as well as in military installations in Bagram, Jalalabad and Kandahar.

Thank you George W. Bush/Dick Cheney for leaving a monumental mess for President Obama and hopefully President (Hillary) Clinton to clean up!

Weren’t the Republicans criticizing Obama for vowing to remove all troops? This should be good.

I listened to a very interesting interview last night with the president of Afghanistan – he does not want them – all they do is reduce the need for the Afghan army to become effective.

All the Islamic countries we try to impose a secular democracy in will fail when we leave. Killing millions of muslims and ravaging their countries creates more enemies and terrorists.
Staying longer won’t help…it’s just perpetual war. We left Viet Nam permanently…now we do business and vacation there.
We’ve made a disaster of every Mid-East involvement. We’ve encouraged overthrow of secular dictators…which opened the door for religious extremist. It’s time we left them alone…our involvement only brings more death, destruction, and deepening instability. End rant.

I am a student and a year ago there was a time when I find it difficult to pay all my fees and expenses without doing anything or doing jobs that need a great deal of time at the expense of my precious study hour …. This is also the dilemma with house wives …. It is difficult to find some time in routine for some job … One of my friends introduced me a kind of online job that I was able to do in my free time and I could earn some good money …. First it felt difficult but with time I get used to it and now I am capable of making more 65-85 d0llars per hour …. Only normal keyboard knowledge and a connection to net was …. I am placing this opportunity for you guys . It may help you guys to stand up and fulfill your dreams as this did in my case ….
