Carson: We Don’t Need A Department Of Veterans Affairs

Posted by | August 27, 2015 21:00 | Filed under: Politics

Ben Carson told radio host Dave Ramsey that we can do away with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Carson stated that one way to shrink the size of the government would be to do away with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, and place its services under the administration of the Defense Department.

“We don’t need a Department of Veterans Affairs,” Carson said. “Veterans Affairs should be folded in under the Department of Defense. And it should be a smooth transition.”

Carson went on to explain that the reason why the number of military volunteers has recently seen a decline is because of the negative opinion Americans have about how veterans are cared for after leaving service.

It’s a little more complex than the crappy care we give our Vets…this new generation is waking up to the corporate wars we ask our brave boys and girls to fight under the guise of patriotism. They’re coming to grips with the fact the ruling elite, who never served a day in their lives, are asking them to do multiple tours in endless wars where only the MIC profits. Ben, you are the problem, not the solution…You’re a chicken hawk coward who never volunteered a minute of your time to fight for this nation, yet you want others to blindly throw themselves over a cliff for you…you are a disgrace to your profession, your race, and your country.

      High Five~!!

    • jybarz August 28th, 2015 at 00:29

      Amen!

    • bpollen August 28th, 2015 at 03:13

Generally, if you don’t want to take care of your veterans, you shouldn’t create them. If you don’t wanna pay for their injuries or damage, stop sending them to fight wars for intangible reasons and goals.

Don’t send the working class youth to fight the Rich Folks Wars.

        • Larry Schmitt August 28th, 2015 at 16:46

Unfortunately it always happens that way. In the Civil War, the rich could buy an exemption. When there was a draft during Viet Nam, the rich sent their kids to college or got some other exemption and the poor kids fought and died. Mostly the only rich ones who joined did so as officers, and a much lower ratio of officers died than enlisted.

Generally, that’s the GOP way – care about the soldier, not the vet. Care about the fetus, not the baby.

        • whatthe46 August 28th, 2015 at 12:21

          perfectly stated.

        • Mike August 28th, 2015 at 14:46

They like soldiers who don’t get shot.

And he and his mommy were the prince and queen of every imaginable source of welfare.

Yet – he seems prepared to destroy all welfare for everyone else because he’s already got his so no one else matters.

I have NO problem with him having LIVED – quite literally – off Welfare as a child and having been well educated because of affirmative action – repeatedly used by him.

What I have a problem with is how he and others like him – perfect example – Greg Abbott in TexASS – want to deny to others what they TOOK thinking they were OWED.

      • Mike August 28th, 2015 at 13:45

Isn’t that the very definition of a Compassionate Conservative…?? They will help you by forcing you to pull yourself up by your own boot straps even though they were recipients of this country’s safety net programs.
        Google hypocrite…

      • Robert Kennedy August 28th, 2015 at 14:41

Just like Paul Ryan whose entire life was paid for by the government, The family business was with the gov and the rest came from survivors benefits. His only eal jb was one day as the Oscar Mayer weinermobile driver.

        • Larry Schmitt August 28th, 2015 at 16:47

Like Clarence Thomas. He was a beneficiary of Affirmative Action throughout his career, but since he’s been on the Supreme Court, he votes against AA. I got mine, you get yours, sucka.

  2. tracey marie August 27th, 2015 at 21:18

Who wants to sign up knowing that the rwnj’s are determined to start many new unending wars.

If we have to have any military type action, I like Pres. Obama’s drone wars. They get the Snakes head.

Wanna kill jobs so you can blame Obama for the unemployment numbers, way to care, sir!

    • rg9rts August 28th, 2015 at 05:29

Jobs is not the issue…care for us is

      • Tommie August 28th, 2015 at 10:14

I know that IS the real issue but i didn’t want to repeat what everyone was already saying, i was just trying to come up with a different view on the subject!

        • rg9rts August 28th, 2015 at 10:25

I view it from the inside..

          • The Original Just Me August 28th, 2015 at 11:23

  6. Obewon August 27th, 2015 at 23:10

Early retired neorosurgeon / birther Ben Carson should probe his atrophied cortex for any signs of rationality. How is our U.S. military supposed to care for 1 M+ frontline GOP Iraq victims, while repubs launch the new $6 T + faux Iran oil war? Cheered on by GOP trying to scuttle the Obama P5 +1 International Iranian disarmament peace plan!

    • rg9rts August 28th, 2015 at 05:27

      • whatthe46 August 28th, 2015 at 14:56

        who is Linda?

    • Mike August 28th, 2015 at 14:52

Your post doesn’t address the 20 or so who commit suicide every day…it took O 3 tries to get congress to recognize that PTSD is a “thing” we might want to address…as a Vet (I received great med care back in 69) I’m ashamed of the way we treat our heroes.

  7. jybarz August 28th, 2015 at 00:33

Many have really mistaken this guy to be really smart…. he should just have faded away, while he was ahead, to r..e…t….i…..r……e…….m…….e………n……..t.,,,,, . . . .

    • The Original Just Me August 28th, 2015 at 06:29

Black people go Grey headed but they don’t fade. Just having a joke here don’t go getting the undie wad problem.

    • Robert Kennedy August 28th, 2015 at 14:36

How smart is he anyway? He has a lot of malpractice suits going still.

  8. AnthonyLook August 28th, 2015 at 02:26

I don’t see the mission of the two departments being that compatible. When I worked at Tripler Army Medical Center; it addressed active duty injuries and the process was more of a private hospital. Veterans Hospital’s mission is for extended care, long term care, ambulatory care, acute general practice care. This move would overburden the mission of treating our active military.

    • ohpaleasegivemeabreak August 28th, 2015 at 12:45

      He does not care.

He is just a republican and republicans love to destroy things.

if there were no longer a need to be the worlds cop even though the world doesn’t want you, there would be no veterans – hell of an idea.

    • The Original Just Me August 28th, 2015 at 06:26

I’ll go along with the “Hell of an idea part” and expand upon it. A Hell of a DUMB ASSED Idea.

    F*ck you Carson….just F*ck you.

  14. WallyinFl August 28th, 2015 at 10:10

Carson went on to explain that the reason why the number of military
volunteers has recently seen a decline is because of the negative
opinion Americans have about how veterans are cared for after leaving
    service.

It’s cons like carson that denigrate the VA every day they won’t be happy until they can defund the VA. My Father is a 86 year old ex-POW and is on VA Disability and deserves everything coming to him. These assholes only care about themselves and how much money they can screw out of our Federal Government.

    • The Original Just Me August 28th, 2015 at 11:17

A big problem the military is having is suicides. We have such a large standing force that was attracted by college payment plans, that the young people are getting bored to death because of nothing to do but daily drills. Our grand daughter is caught in this trap right now. The first year of training and class’s was great but now real life is setting in. Nothing much to do and just going through the routines each day and at the same time realizing that life that they knew growing up has ended. The adult world and repeating routines are getting to her. The day after she suddenly crashed, her mother showed up on a planned visit. That helped tremendously.

  15. ohpaleasegivemeabreak August 28th, 2015 at 12:43

And we do not want or need an Uncle Ruckus in the WH.

  16. Robert Kennedy August 28th, 2015 at 14:33

He has a point. If the VA was under the military Bush wouldn’t have had he ability to cut its’ funding by 50% while starting two illegal wars. And BTW, I spent a lot of time in VA hospitals and was treated with the utmost respect. The people who work there are fantastic. But lack of funding has hurt them badly even though Obama was able to get half the cuts back, it still leaves them very short funded. And with some incompetent leadership, well….
