Bachmann Attacks Fiorina For Once Saying Something Positive About Islam

Posted by | August 18, 2015 12:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Carly Fiorina gave a speech shortly after 9/11 recounting the positive influence historic Islamic leaders had. For this, she is now being attacked by Michele Bachmann.

What was in Fiorina’s 2001 speech that so enraged some conservatives?

“When other nations were afraid of ideas, [the Ottoman Empire] thrived on them, and kept them alive. When censors threatened to wipe out knowledge from past civilizations, this civilization kept the knowledge alive, and passed it on to others.”

“[The] Islamic world from the year 800 to 1600, which included the Ottoman Empire and the courts of Baghdad, Damascus and Cairo, and enlightened rulers like Suleiman the Magnificent … contributed to our notions of tolerance and civic leadership.”

The Ottoman Empire “was driven more than anything, by invention. Its mathematicians created the algebra and algorithms that would enable the building of computers, and the creation of encryption.” America’s technology industry “would not exist without the contributions of Arab mathematicians.”

The only reason Bachmann is allowed to run free is because Reagan defunded all the insane asylums…otherwise this dingbat would be in a Hannibal Lecter straightjacket with the mask and all.

Can you imagine being so bigoted against Arabs that you would deny their contributions to mathematics, philosophy, and Western civilization in general?

That’s like saying that because of the Nazis, you hate German contributions to music, literature, science, etc. You refuse to listen to Bach, Beethoven, or Mozart. You dismiss Goethe, Schiller, Rilke and others.

I can’t even imagine what it would be like to live inside Bachmann’s frightening head.

Bachmann’s taking a page out of the Palin playbook. Clearly, the idea of giving up what passed for the “limelight” on the Right was too much for her.
