Cop Being Investigated For Bragging About His ‘Michael Brown Bonus’
Ignorance combined with racism is a horrible combination.
Officer Todd “TJ” Bakula posted a showoff-ish message on Facebook about how the anniversary protests throughout the city gave him the chance to earn some overtime. “I decided to spend my annual Michael Brown bonus on a nice relaxing bicycle ride trip to Defiance,” the post read. “Eating dinner now and staying at a bed and breakfast tonight.”
Just for the record, Defiance, Missouri is an actual place. It doesn’t make things especially better, but, there you go.
Media relations officer Shawn McGuire told The Guardian that the post did come from Bakula’s profile, that he works as a patrolman for their department, and that an inquiry would be launched.

how many times do i have to say, if law enforcement was serious about getting rid of “cops” who are truly a potential threat to the community, just check their social media. prior to enrollment into the police force and while they are on the force. they would be 1/2 empty.

it puts everyone on notice. especially law enforcement and the city. if he so much as sneeze on someone and they catch a cold, he should get looked at as if he did it with the intent to harm.

Classic example of lack of forethought, he could have worded it different but he had to be an insensitive idiot. Worse though, he has the potential to harm himself as well as others with his lack of judgement and empathy.

sorry, but, how do you word “i’m on vacation thanks to brown being murdered and i got overtime for working the protest and rally’s.” what he’s saying is, if he hadn’t been killed while unarmed, he wouldn’t have been able to afford driving a few cities over for vacation. i wanna know, how much happy money at the death of this teen did he make.

He made money because of the protest not the death. The death wouldn’t require overtime, had a city not been destroyed, kids locked in their houses, people being attacked, etc. His words are totally insensitive and downright douchey, but if the cop had been killed and someone made these type comments, we wouldn’t even hear the story. Funny how you all can empathize and be “rational” when it suits you. Hypocrites.
