A kids basketball team from Charlottesville, Virginia, has been disqualified from the finals of the  National Travel Basketball Association (NTBA) tournament simply because they have a talented young girl, Kymora Johnson, on their team.

Johnson has played on the team for three years.and has competed in hundreds of tournaments for the team. She even competed in two Travel Basketball Association tournaments, according to her mother. But not this year, the NTBA says.

Since the tournament does have both girls and boys teams, Kymora will be allowed to participate as part of a female team, and her male teammates are showing their solidarity with her by wearing pink uniforms as they make their way through the NTBA tournament….READ MORE at  LiberalAmerica.org

she must be really good. and someones scared of her kicking their butts. wouldn’t surpise me if someone paid them off to do this considering she’s played in two of them.

I am sure some “macho” parent didn’t want his little boy to lose to a girl so a problem was caused. I can’t wait for the day when we can say “I remember when girls weren’t even allowed to play on the same team as boys”.

What kind of lessons will these youngsters learn from this? We are allowed to discriminate when gender is considered?

Bound to happen, females play sports now. We finally have teams we can play on in school other than cheerleading. Eventually at least one of us will stand out and won’t be explained away.

That we have to sometimes follow rules, even when we don’t agree with them.

If it’s a privately funded conference, they have every right to prohibit co-ed teams. I’m sure it seems unfair to the kids, but the players don’t get to write the rules. They just have to deal with a little disappointment.

once again amonst your blather you prove your narrowness!!

      • illinoisboy1977 August 10th, 2015 at 11:44

What’s narrow about it? It’s THEIR league and THEY get to set the rules. If the parents don’t like it, they can spend their own money on facilities, personnel and insurance, and start their own league.
