Jeb: End The Filibuster So We Can End Obamcare

Posted by | June 27, 2015 18:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Jeb Bush wants to do away with the filibuster which he thinks will enable Congress to overturn Obamacare.

Bush said Friday he’s open to eliminating the Senate’s 60-vote threshold if it helps Congress repeal Obamacare and enact “free-market oriented” health care reforms.

Appearing on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show, the former Florida governor was asked if he’d support invoking the “Reid rule”—also known as the “nuclear option”—to nix the legislative filibuster to replace the Affordable Care Act…

Hewitt pressed Bush, pointing out that Republicans are unlikely to get 60 Senate votes to defeat a filibuster if Democrats stick together and block efforts to repeal Obamacare, as they have done for years. “At that point,” Hewitt said, “would you at least be open to making the argument that on this issue, before it gets its tentacles too deep, that we break the filibuster and ram through a repeal and replacement?”

Bush responded that he was open to it.

“I’d have to see—if the repeal is what I’m going to advocate, then I might consider that,” he said, adding that if the replacement includes high-deductible, low-premium catastrophic coverage and helps the middle class, “then I would certainly consider that.”

Would love to hear Bush’s candid remarks regarding the ignominy of having to pay obeisance to the likes of Hugh Hewitt.

Hugh Hewitt! How far the GOP has fallen. And it can’t get up.

      It ain’t your grandfather’s GOP.

      Ask Bob Dole

“Repeal Obamacare”-the dumber Bush thinks POTUS Obama will sign a bill reversing U.S. record 90% HC insured and that ‘reduces federal deficits $1.5 T+’-CBO.

The question is; was W the smarter one?

    • The Original Just Me June 27th, 2015 at 21:41

One he was just the smartest one and that is still pretty low on the scale.

Take Jeb’s money away and boot him out onto the nearest street with serious health problems and ask him to show us how it’s done without the ACA, Medicaid or welfare. I’d bet he wouldn’t be whistling Dixie or bitching about it.

    • allison1050 June 27th, 2015 at 20:34

Well Warman, if I hadn’t had ACA last year I would be dead or dying from breast cancer since I didn’t have the money for the surgery or the weekly chemos.

      • Warman1138 June 27th, 2015 at 20:56

I can sympathize, if it wasn’t for Medicaid and welfare I would have been gone over ten years ago from having my neck crushed. I hope you get better and don’t give up, sometimes there’s nothing more satisfying than giving the reaper a good kick down low.

Heck, I’m also glad I signed up for the ACA–it helped a lot when I had to be treated for pneumonia earlier this year. I am very, very grateful for having the coverage given by the ACA.

        • allison1050 June 28th, 2015 at 09:23

I’m grateful up to a point because I wound up shelling out almost 10k ON TOP of ACA and refuse to do it again and this coming just days before my final PET scan. And to add further insult to injury, I WASN’T able to write those expenses off my taxes since I had no income other than my social security! We need Universal Coverage and it’s just that simple.

Talk about fishing for votes next year!

Somehow the gopee feels it can kiss off 7,000,000+ votes and it won’t matter

Hey, give the guy some credit. He finally came up with an idea. It’s just so sad that it is such a dumb one.

    Terrific buffoon

  8. Bunya June 27th, 2015 at 22:46

I hope Jeb becomes the GOP’s golden boy. I’d love to see him get humiliated in the debates. And I think he’d guarantee another democratic presidency. After two failed Bush Administrations, I don’t think the country can afford a third disaster.

    • whatthe46 June 27th, 2015 at 23:03

quite frankly i don’t think it matters. they are all quite the mental.

  9. rg9rts June 28th, 2015 at 04:42

Like all the gopee wannabes Show us YOUR plan.. you wanna be POTUS and have NO answers …like usual…

  10. Sy Colepath June 28th, 2015 at 09:23

Great idea, until the idiot realizes that the Senate could very well go to the Dems in 2016.

  11. majii June 28th, 2015 at 17:15

There were several articles published last week that noted that the GOP/TP “replacement” for the ACA must not increase the deficit. So far, they don’t have a healthcare plan that would do this, so Jeb and his rw buddies are lying in order to keep the mouth-breathers in their party placated and from calling for their heads.
