The Sanders Factor

Posted by | April 30, 2015 09:00 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders will be entering the presidential race today, becoming the first candidate to formally challenge Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination.

The general consensus is that Sanders, whose views on governance are quite a bit to the left of Clinton’s, is likely to raise issues that Beltway centrists and conservatives (in the halls of government and the press) all but ignore.

How do you think Sanders will impact the race? Weigh in in comments below.

Here’s what I hope to hear: “… strengthen and expand Social Security!”

Sanders is a “Red” herring in the socialist line up and there only to make Her Highness look more centrist. Yawn.

Sir, you bring up your queen bee’s foibles ? As your current president is a noted moron in international media (known as “The Insipid One” in the EU)–but adored in your own–your uninformed comments become forgivable.

As for Benghazi, the 4 dead participants could not be reached for comment.

        • dave-dr-gonzo April 30th, 2015 at 16:58

Maybe if the Libyan ambassador had listened to the advice of the State Department and Hillary herself, they would be alive.

Odd that Issa didn’t – and Tery Gowdy won’t – pursue that line of questioning.

Oh, my – did I say something inconvenient?

          • EstebanCafe April 30th, 2015 at 17:08

What I get from your comment:
So, Hillary warned them; they didn’t pay attention to Her Holiness; and thus she ignored the help for which they begged. Ergo, they deserved to die.
Do you really think like that ?

            • arc99 April 30th, 2015 at 17:33

“”Ergo, they deserved to die. “”

do you always make up pure fiction, pretend it is what someone believes and then attack your own fantasy?

              • EstebanCafe April 30th, 2015 at 18:04

Your comment makes Logic stare; Reason gapes openly. I interpret your obvious meaning and yet you question it ? As with most discussions with American Leftists, they project when ideas run dry. Therein lies the fantasy.

English is clearly a second language for you as it is for me and perhaps you skewed your meaning ?

            • dave-dr-gonzo April 30th, 2015 at 19:52

              No.

But thank you for playing “The Doc’s Short Answers to Asinine Questions.” Enjoy our consolation prize: laughter at you!

Didn’t make it as a game show host, eh? I would love to query how many of the posters on this site earn their living, vs. your citizens paying their bills. You, for example: does this site really pay you for such drivel ?

            • tracey marie April 30th, 2015 at 20:16

              what an asinine comment

              • EstebanCafe May 1st, 2015 at 00:01

Such blinding logic and snappy repartee–but no rebuttal. Typical American leftist drivel.

        • arc99 April 30th, 2015 at 17:31

          Sir,

I do not have a queen bee.

You are entitled to your opinion that the current President of the United States is a moron, the same way that a woman is entitled to have the opinion that it does not hurt all that much when a man is kicked in the groin. Whether or not there is credibility in either opinion is a whole other matter.

As for Benghazi, the 3,000 people who died on 9/11/2001 could not be reached for comment on why the same people who told us that it was not a time for finger pointing when 3,000 died, hold the exact opposite opinion when 4 people die on 9/11/2012 in a foreign country thousands of miles away.

As for uninformed comments, yours are a textbook example.

          • EstebanCafe April 30th, 2015 at 18:02

No queen, and yet a plethora of drone-like comments ? You Americans have dropped in your IQs, if you’re comments are any example.

As for your 3K dead on 9/11, they were killed by the same people who killed your ambassador, et al. In the first matter it appears to be unavoidable, given the surprised nature of it and no one could have rescued them; in the second matter it is exactly the opposite. Few question either scenario.

Sadly, the last thing a fish discovers is the water–and you’ve been taking in the filthy water represented by this site: completely brain washed. You should get out of the US and or listen to EU-or Asian-based analyses of your current and future administrations.

Hillary is an amazing women. She has been a one person crime syndicate for decades and hasn’t spent a day in prison. Hillary is the woman Al Capone wished he could have been. Whether or not he is groin kicked.

            • arc99 April 30th, 2015 at 18:24

Being told that I am “brainwashed” by someone who is clearly brainwashed is an enigma.

You roll in your own filth of misinformed opinions, lacking the awareness to realize that it is you who is most guilty of the traits for which you criticize me.

I obtain my information from a number of sources including al Jazeera and LinkTV. The latter frequently airs foreign newscasts.

But such is the lot of people like you living in a world of their own delusions, misconceptions, inaccurate conclusions, never actually asking someone where they get their information but simply making laughably erroneous generalizations.

when you want to debate what I actually say, and not what those little voices in your head tell you I am saying, let me know.

              • EstebanCafe May 1st, 2015 at 00:27

As I consult my thesaurus I think the word you were looking for is “irony”, not enigma…I sense English is your second language too. In fact it appears to be a second language for most on this site.
I would ask where you get your information, but you have not offered any. No debate can take place without it.

                • arc99 May 1st, 2015 at 00:35

A lot of what you “sense” is completely wrong.

Puzzling and inexplicable is exactly what I meant.

as I said, you are entitled to your opinions. I personally could care less what you think about me or any other regular participant at this site.

I will simply disabuse you of your self centered arrogance which leads you to presume that you know better than I what I intended to say.

Otherwise, I see it is pointless to try to debate you. You are the quintessential troll. Insults, misinformed generalizations, and complete inability to see that you are the worst example of the very behavior you criticize.

                  http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/enigma

            • arc99 April 30th, 2015 at 18:36

we Americans may have dropped our IQ’s, but the comments in this forum demonstrate that the regular participants in this forum are still a great deal more intelligent than you

              • EstebanCafe May 1st, 2015 at 00:24

With a reduced IQ you would naturally think that.

        • Roctuna April 30th, 2015 at 18:25

Your comments that suppose to characterize the EU are exactly opposite to my experience in the EU countries I’ve visited (Great Britain, France, Spain, Germany and also Turkey). Don’t presume to speak for a continent. If you think President Obama is adored in the US media that clearly demonstrates you’re not familiar with the US media. As for Benghazi, how many more investigations would you like that prove no scandal?

          • EstebanCafe May 1st, 2015 at 00:12

And so you presume to speak for our continent…after warning me not to ? BTW, Turkey is not in the EU…I think it is you who presumes experience you clearly have not had.
Moreover, given Mr. Holder, your State Dept (don’t bring up your IRS) and the consistent withholding of evidence the current Admin, destroyed data/servers from Hillary…and yet you ask about how many more investigations are required ? Perhaps as many as Al Gore got election recounts ?
Truly the last thing a fish discovers is the water–and you folk have been swimming in that leftist sewage for too long to know any better.

            • Roctuna May 1st, 2015 at 07:49

Pointing out I’ve had a different experience in Europe does not mean I presume to speak for anyone but myself. I separated Turkey from the other countries in my list precisely because I knew they’re not in the EU. The rules on emails and servers that HRC is accused of breaking were not in place until after she left the State Dept. As for Al Gore, he got one recount that was ended early by the Bush Supreme Court. We’re currently on the 8th investigation of Benghazi. Your fish analogy is getting pretty worn out, find a new cliche to repeat pointlessly.

        • tracey marie April 30th, 2015 at 20:17

you are a noted inbred teabagger

            Your “argument” ? That’s it ? Seriously ?

    • Ronald L April 30th, 2015 at 21:21

      >> Sanders is a “Red” herring in the socialist line up and there only to make Her Highness look more centrist. Yawn.

      Hillary is conservative.

She’s not a radical right wing extremist like the GOP but, by an objective standard, Hillary is conservative.

  3. Budda April 30th, 2015 at 09:57

I think and hope he brings issues up that won’t otherwise be discussed. I also think he will bring fresh discourse to most topics that seem to be glazed over when someone asks.

He should bring some fresh air to this whole game of “primary”.

  4. oldfart April 30th, 2015 at 11:04

keeping the Democratic party’s feet to the fire.

  5. SwampGas April 30th, 2015 at 11:19

He’s not quite as far left as I am, and he likely won’t win the nomination, but he has my support and he’ll bring a more progressive tone to the Democratic race. He’d make a fun VP too.

  6. K2 April 30th, 2015 at 12:15

I get the sense that he doesn’t REALLY want to be prez, but he wants to bridge the income gap a bit. If that helps to show voters that Hilary has hundreds of millions, I’m in favor.

    • OldLefty April 30th, 2015 at 14:02

      Hilary has hundreds of millions

      _______

Nobody cares if Hillary has hundreds of millions.

They care whether her policies enrich people like them or people like her.

  7. Chinese Democracy April 30th, 2015 at 14:15

In it to win it Go Bernie Solidarity with the only voice labor has left

  9. DogsRgoodpeople April 30th, 2015 at 17:26

Very glad he’s running as a Democrat. ( He is serving as an independent Sen.) This way no static about debates from DNC . Also , it’s win or lose………..he won’t siphon off votes after the primaries. I’ll vote for Bernie in the primaries.

    • booker25 May 1st, 2015 at 07:52

Me too, I also donated to his campaign yesterday and will continue to do so each month as I can, I am retired but I think he is a man to take the WH.

  10. StoneyCurtisll April 30th, 2015 at 19:30

    I love Bernie Sanders..
But in all honesty, he has as much of a chance being elected president as I do…;(

    • dave-dr-gonzo April 30th, 2015 at 19:50

Maybe if you ran together as the ticket…

    • allison1050 April 30th, 2015 at 19:57

Don’t be so down on yourself Stoney…come on your chances would be better if you two ran together just as dave-dr-gonzo suggests! ;o)

      • StoneyCurtisll April 30th, 2015 at 20:13

        Thanks for the encouragement..;)

If we could just get Bernie to change his name to ‘Free Beer’, it would be a done deal. Free Beer and Stoney to lead the good ole US of A ~!

    • uzza April 30th, 2015 at 20:33

      Why?

      • StoneyCurtisll April 30th, 2015 at 21:06

        Why?..
        The money machine…
        That’s why.

        • Ronald L April 30th, 2015 at 21:18

It’s not just the money. Even if he had money, I don’t think he’d get the swing vote.

  11. Gina April 30th, 2015 at 19:39

Who knew teabagger exist outside USA ?

  13. Ronald L April 30th, 2015 at 21:15

I’m not crazy about stunt candidates.

I like Bernie Sanders but he has the luxury of taking positions without having to deal with the real world. Being a serious candidate, Hillary can’t as easily pander to the idealistic wing of the party.

  14. Anomaly 100 April 30th, 2015 at 21:21

    You suck at being poetic.

    • mea_mark April 30th, 2015 at 21:26

      • EstebanCafe May 1st, 2015 at 00:06

Oh, I didn’t quit–I was kicked from your site for my consistent view of and commentary about your president, known in France as “The Insipid One.”

    • EstebanCafe May 1st, 2015 at 00:04

And you suck at projecting that as what I was doing.

      • Anomaly 100 May 1st, 2015 at 06:52

        Yoda, is that you?

        • EstebanCafe May 1st, 2015 at 10:19

Much to learn you still have…young padawan. Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate; hate leads to suffering–and ALL Liberal run USA cities are struck with fear, hate and suffering. I sense much fear on this site.

          • Anomaly 100 May 1st, 2015 at 11:14

The only thing I fear is deep water. Also, Mississipi is kind of scary.

Bernie can win, don’t think for a moment he can’t. The media thought Hillary had it won in 08 too. Gee what happen?? President Obama that’s what happened.

  17. jstsmlbrlcnsrvtvguy May 1st, 2015 at 09:29

The more people get to know Bernie, the more they’ll like him.

  18. William May 1st, 2015 at 09:43

The right wing scandal machine will need to kick into hyper drive to divide their time among the candidates.
