Harry Reid: I’m Blind In One Eye

Posted by | April 8, 2015 11:00 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

The Senate Minority Leader says he is blind in his right eye.

“It looked like somebody had hit you,” Fusion newscaster Jorge Ramos told Reid in a recent interview. “Are you afraid that you might not regain your eyesight?”

“No, I’m over that, ‘cause I can’t see out of my eye, and that’s the way it’s going to be until something comes along that’ll change it,” Reid responded to Ramos. “Right now, I’ve had 11 hours of surgery. They’ve tried. I can’t see out of my right eye. And that’s okay, I can live with that.”

Reid injured himself earlier this year in an exercising accident at his Nevada home.

Corrupt old coot… AS much as I despise Romney this lying bastard admits to making up the tax story about Romney.. Reid will lie about anything… I hope his eye falls out and the other one goes blind.. How in the hell does an elected US Senator who took an oath get away with this ? Politicians are immune to any and all crimes.. Bush lied, Obama lies, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Hillary they all do what they want and just smile sayin FU I can get away with it..

      • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 20:52

Yes but you must realize that only a certain party lies.. The other party is made up of Angles.. You pick a party and it applies..

Basically, it is the job of politicians to lie about what is really happening.

Otherwise, there would be no such thing as “classified information”. Can’t have secrets without lies of either omission or commission.

Having said that, I think accusations of lying are partisan. Just take these two statements.

Saddam has weapons and we know where they are

If you like your health insurance you can keep it.

To what extent the above qualify as “lies” as opposed to mistakes is indeed dependent on your political views.

          • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 21:30

Dude the list of lies coming out of the WH in the past 16 years is endless

            • arc99 April 8th, 2015 at 21:42

              Your opinion. I stated mine.

and please do not call me dude…

                Ok Dudette.. Washington lies PERIOD

I asked nicely to not refer to me in a way that I dislike. Common courtesy would be to respect the request. But your response was to reply with lame sarcasm.

so f*k you too. I don’t take sh*t from anyone regardless of political leanings.

what the hell is wrong with you, ARC is always polite and usually correct. You come here to troll, hijack threads and act like an inbred fool.

I am not aware of my representative, Rob Wittman lying.
When he was elected, Jimmy Carter said “I will never lie to you” and he kept his word.
While only one example is needed to defeat a universal statement, there’s 2 for you.

And while I’m sure the name-calling goes over great at the 7th grade lunch table, none of it has anything to do with Harry reid being blind in one eye.

                  • rocker April 8th, 2015 at 22:25

I am aware of Wittman yes I agree. He seems to be on the up and up.. He and I agree on Chesapeake Bay issues

                    • burqa April 8th, 2015 at 23:26

I have socialized with him on several occasions and we have had some interesting conversations at other times when it was appropriate to speak of politics. At those times he has given me a fair hearing on issues of concern. He listened to me and we discussed issues in a polite, respectful atmosphere. Though I am decidedly on the Left of the political spectrum, the man has always treated me well and given me plenty of time, one-on-one.

Wittman gets the thing about being a public servant.

I also liked the way he and our Senator Mark Warner worked together to straighten out the mess at Arlington.
Like you, I share his concerns with the Bay, which I enjoy sailing.

          • burqa April 8th, 2015 at 22:27

            Indeed.
I believe Reid knew Romney was paying such a low percentage of his income in taxes that this would be a good way to compel Romney to release his tax returns. That’s all it was, a maneuver to show this multimillionaire was paying a far smaller percentage in taxes than most of the rest of us.
That’s just not right, and it’s kinda funny the way conservatives avoid the point and many of them are in favor of eliminating the tax on Romney’s form of income which would lead to people like Romney not paying any tax on their income at all.

But try – just try – to get a conservative to fill in the blank of the following statement:

“Multimillionaires like Romney should pay less a percentage in tax on their income than the rest of us because ____”

        • Guy Lauten April 8th, 2015 at 21:29

Angles!?? and the others are Picts!?? it’s the damn huns all over again!!!

          • burqa April 8th, 2015 at 22:29

Maybe he committed a spelling error and meant to say one party was composed of ankles.

            • Guy Lauten April 8th, 2015 at 23:03

damn ankle-bitin’ huns. I thought we were done with them…

            • Anomaly 100 April 8th, 2015 at 23:05

I’m pretty sure he meant ankles, too.

              • burqa April 8th, 2015 at 23:32

If I was a surrealist painter, I’d think of doing a painting of the Ankle Party national convention, with 20,000 ankles in a hockey arena waving those tall skinny signs that say which state they are from, cheering the ankle onstage giving the keynote address……

        • Um Cara April 8th, 2015 at 22:02

The other party is made up of Angles

          And obtuse ones, at that!

        • burqa April 8th, 2015 at 22:15

          Relatives of Sharron?
My my my, the Angle family sure is fecund!

I’ve never been a big fan of Reid, though I tend to agree with him politically. Blindness, even in one eye, is awful and I hope he somehow recovers from it.
There are politicians in D.C. I care much less for but would not wish blindness, even in one eye, on any of them.
