Jim Gilmore: I’d be A Better President

Former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore, a name we have not heard mentioned in relation to 2016, says he has experience the other candidates lack.

Gilmore, himself a 2016 White House hopeful, said his experience leading the Old Dominion made him more qualified than other potential contenders.

“What makes me different?” he asked host John Catsimatidis of “The Cats Roundtable” New York’s AM 970. “As the former governor of Virginia, I actually ran one of the major states in this country.”

“Secondly, none of the other potential candidates knows anything about foreign policy, whereas I do,” he continued.

Gilmore cited his work chairing the National Commission on Homeland Security as proof of his foreign policy bona fides. The former governor said he held that role for five years…

Should Gilmore run, he will enter one of the most crowded GOP presidential fields in recent memory. At least 19 other Republicans have expressed interest in the executive mansion.

kinda screwed up anybody else’s chances of running against Hillary on foreign policy.
      except for Mitt.

Just as bad as the hoo-hoo poker, the last GOP AG, Ken Cuccinelli, covered up the boob on the state seal seen on the state flag.
There we had this very nice almost cheerful breast being displayed proudly by Lady Liberty, who has just slain a tyrant and broken the chains of bondage and she’s airing that rascal out with one foot on the fallen tyrant.
We were the only state with a boob on the flag and Cuccinelli went and ruined it all by coloring over that ta-ta. He didn’t ask nobody or nuthin.’ He just got out a blue magic marker and wiped out that very nice breast on the flag and official state documents.

The Virginia governorship is set up to make almost anyone look good. The budget has to be balanced every year and what they end up doing is shifting a little more money from schools to roads or vice versa.
Gilmore ran a beautifully simple, devastating campaign that was won on 4 words –
    “Gilmore – No Car Tax.”
He had signs all over the place and that is all they said. The car tax was despised but it did not seem to be feasible to get rid of it without more budget cuts than could be managed. But that’s how he got elected.
Then, despite being set up to not fail, Gilmore screwed things up big time. He was never able to get rid of the car tax completely, but he cut other taxes that threw the budget way out of balance so he pulled off some budgeting skullduggery to make it appear the budget was balanced when it was not.
Virginia governors can only serve one term so Gilmore didn’t have to run on his record, which might have kept him more honest.

So the next governor, Mark Warner as I recall, had a huge mess of deferred debt that had to be paid while keeping the budget balanced and not raising taxes. Warner did an extraordinary job in pulling it off and handing of a state in far better shape than the shell Warner inherited from Gilmore. Warner was the best governor of the state going back many years, is very popular and easily won his Senate bid, but the last election was way too close. He’ll win again and again, as long as he wants to stay in office.

    But Gilmore for president?

    HAHAHAHAHA!

      ‘gilmore-no car tax’

was only due to the then current political atmosphere ?
