NRA Tweet Mocks Gabby Giffords

If you’re having a good day, prepare to have it ruined by yet another example of the tasteless and disgusting lows the NRA will sink to in order to rile its base. This Thursday, the gun rights group fired off a sloppy tweet that seemingly mocked Gabby Giffords and her 2011 brutal attack: “Gabby Giffords: Everyone…

These tweets have been going on for years. The truly amazing thing is that the NRA isn’t even slightly embarrassed by a board member Nugent who lived in his own excrement to avoid military service, and board member and bathroom Romeo Larry Craig.
What makes you think they would feel any remorse whatsoever at making fun of a woman who was shot in the head?

    • alpacadaddy March 6th, 2015 at 12:03

That is truly sickening. The level of hateful vitriol is surpassed only by the blatant ignorance, frequently wrapped in faux patriotism & warped religious ambition. You people make me sick, and ashamed to share the same planet!

      • Josephine March 6th, 2015 at 13:21

What does this story have to do with “religion”? Also, what do you mean by “religious ambition”?

        • Jake March 6th, 2015 at 21:23

The KKK is a violent Christian organization and have often used guns practicing their Christianity on black people.

          • John LaBombard March 7th, 2015 at 03:47

Not since the ’60’s has the KKK been in any kind of power. And just for your information, Martin Luther King Jr. was a gun owner and a Republican.

            • burqa March 7th, 2015 at 11:20

So you’re saying gun ownership doesn’t provide self defense?
I’ve heard that line about King being a Republican but never seen it proven. But I get a giggle when it comes from one of those people who make a point out of differentiating between conservatives and RINOs.
After you come up with the proof that King was a member of the GOP, please let us know whether he was a RINO or not…

              Watch me stump The Punisher:

Soooo, Punisher, why is it that around 90% of African Americans vote for the Democratic Party candidate for president, regardless of whether that candidate is white or black?
              Why do they do that?

(By the way, I regard wiki as a crutch for those who don’t know the subject at hand and think they can play Google catch-up. As for me, when it comes to history I read the works of real historians, the best I can find on the topic rather than rely on anonymous amateurs with an agenda. I have a hard time recognizing as legit a site that once procaimed that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s middle name is “Whoop-Dee-Do.”).

Easy, they want a free ride. Welfare, food stamps and other government hand-outs are used, mainly, by the black community..duh. Black vote Democrat so they can continue their benefits and not have to work. Stop giving people a free ride and this country can get back on its feet, we can reduce the budget and stop people from being mediocre.

I work. If someone offered me a job paying $80,000 per year, I would turn it down since it would be a pay cut.

For the rest, please see my response to Punisher.

I am a 62 year old black man. I work. I pay taxes. I own my home. I vote. I, like 90% of black citizens vote Democratic because we understand the issues and philosophy of the GOP and want no part of it.

So take your FREEBIES bullsh*t and shove it up your a$$.

Yeah, and ISIS is a violent Muslim organization practicing Islam.
Meir Kahane was a Jew practicing Judaism. Timothy McVeigh was an American practicing the American Way.
And we all know the Zodiac Killer was merely practicing astrology, right?

Stop being ridiculous and copying the logical fallacies we get too damned often from the Teabaggers.
Really, can’t you get a better role model than the the Tealiban?

“Yeah, and ISIS is a violent Muslim organization practicing Islam” — They think so and say they are.
“Meir Kahane was a Jew practicing Judaism.” – He thought so and said he was.
“Timothy McVeigh was an American practicing the American Way.” – I’m not sure what the American Way is.
“And we all know the Zodiac Killer was merely practicing astrology, right?” – Never heard of him/her.

              TAX the CHURCHES!

              • burqa March 7th, 2015 at 17:53

You can google the Zodiac Killer. He was in all the news in my younger days.
A lot of people say a lot of things in labels they place on themselves and others. It’s not necessarily true. When the folks from FON arrived, one saw me saying I was a Christian and he branded me as a far right conservative fascist or something.
My palm left a red mark on my knee after that one.
A few months ago I was visiting my parents a few states away and checked out the new house they just bought and the addition they were having built.

The crew of young bucks was there and I was well dressed in leather shoes, dress shirt and jacket. I had-em sized up right away by reading their work. It’ll talk to you if you speak the language.
I asked a few innocuous questions, setting a trap seeing who would fall into it and sure enough, after a few items of pure bovine byproduct, I got him to say he was a carpenter. I’m an easygoing guy now, not having run crews in years, but bringing up the rage is not hard and I started dropping bomb after bomb on these guys, beginning with “DON’T BULLSHIT ME!”, telling them what they didn’t know about their materials, computing live and dead loads, how building codes came about, how architects design and a little if the development of carpentry from colonial times to the present.
One of-em said, “What, are you a arch-ee-tect or something?”
                I said, “No, I’M a carpenter.”

I took off my jacket and ordered two of them to count out 25, 12-penny nails and scowled when they didn’t arrange them right when they handed them to me. The adrenaline was pumping good by then. Then I had one with a watch to say “Go” when the second hand got to 12 and told him to watch it. I grabbed a sweet California Framer one was toting and at “Go” drove all 50 flush in a minute.
                bam-BAM!-bam-BAM!-bam-BAM!-bam-BAM!-bam-BAM!
Al they saw was a steel blur and nails jumping in the wood.
Then I started tearing some of their shit apart and showed them some finer aspects of carpentry, not just what to do but what to be thinking and how to look at certain things while talking trash, getting them laughing and learning.

That poor SOB weren’t no carpenter, though he said he was.

      • burqa March 7th, 2015 at 11:04

It’s horrid alright, coming from the Right but when the same sort of thing comers from the Left they get a pass.
Take something abhorrent said by a rightie thaat gets the Left in a dither for its nastiness, then change the subject of the vitriol and suddenly the objections on the Left evaporate but arise on the Right.

Can we really object to this stuff coming from the Right if we fail to say anything when it comes from the Left?
Do we really need our own Tealiban?

  2. fahvel March 6th, 2015 at 10:37

NRA=nasty rotten americans!!!!!! all of them, even those who say “I
m a memeber but don’t agree with the lunatic fringe”. No one, not one person needs a gun and no one needs to hunt for supper in the usa.

    • Me Notanyoneelse March 6th, 2015 at 15:07

Um you don’t travel much outside your neighborhood do you? Plenty hunt for their supper in the US because they HAVE to. It supplements their food supply, especially in winter months.
Plus, it is opinions like your own, stating how NO ONE should own a gun that leads to the lunatic fringe because you validate their claims that the government wants to take away the 2nd Amendment rights of law abiding Americans.
Background checks don’t work because of HIPPA laws, which the Dems pushed to protect gays back in the 80’s so they didn’t have to tell anyone they were HIV positive or had AIDS. It is the mentally ill that need to be red flagged and they can’t because of those laws.

      • tracey marie March 6th, 2015 at 16:35

that was some seque into blaming gays, dems and hiv for your ammosexual needs

      • AbolishingIgnorance March 6th, 2015 at 18:35

Wow. HIPPA came about in 1996, and it was to protect US from insurance agencies. Not just HIV. cancer patients, heart patients, anyone who had pre-existing conditions. Conspiracy theory much?

      • bpollen March 7th, 2015 at 02:10

Hey, noodles… HIPPAA laws state your medical records can’t be shared without your permission. Your criminal record is NOT covered by HIPPAA for instance… HIPPAA stands for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. What, did you think that a background check dug into your immunization record? Your hemorrhoids?

        • Me Notanyoneelse March 8th, 2015 at 17:17

Hey tweedle dee, HIPPAA laws do not consider signing for a background check permission to share medical records which is, wait for it, how you find the mentally unstable. Which is, wait for it again, 99% of those who commit mass shootings. Those with a history of mental illness, which cannot be shared in a routine background check. Hence, why they do not work.

          • bpollen March 8th, 2015 at 20:32

“99% of those who commit shootings”

I call bullsugar. Personal conflicts are the single leading impetus for murder. It’s estimated that about 1000 homicides per year are committed by the insane. Since there are around 20,000 per year in the US alone, that works out to about 5%. So, not only are you wrong, you could hardly be MORE wrong.

            • Me Notanyoneelse March 8th, 2015 at 22:45

You need to actually read beyond headlines. The article you are getting that info from, beyond being from 2010, clearly makes these two statements:
              “For homicides and suicides, relationship
problems, interpersonal conflicts, mental-health problems, and recent
crises were among the primary precipitating factors,” Karch and
              colleagues wrote in their report”
              and
“Karch and colleagues started collecting their
data in 2003 and it so far covers just 16 states, so she says it cannot
yet be used as either representative of the United States as a whole, or
as a basis for predicting trends.”d
              Lumping. Isn’t it fun?
But if you want real facts, gun murder rates are down. At their lowest since 1981 in fact. This while gun ownership in America has in fact, increased over the same period of time. Hmmm…
Could it possibly be that taking guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens actually has no effect on guns being used violently? Astounding thought I know. :)

              • bpollen March 8th, 2015 at 23:47

OK, so your numbers are wrong, but you argue that some study says that their conclusions aren’t nationally representative. In other words, you dispute MY position by saying “Hey, look over there, they’re doing something bad!”

You still claim (erroneously) that 99% of shootings are committed by crazy people. Show YOUR source to corroborate your contention. You made the claim; can’t you substantiate it? Where are the news reports of the 19800 (out of 20000) murders by crazy people? Where is the data? They estimate .1% of the population is violently insane. Must be some busy mofos out there doing all those murders… And, of course, there must have been a veritable EXPLOSION of murders when HIPPAA was put in place, protecting all of those rampaging crazy people from being caught in background checks! Please show this HUGE increase in murders post-HIPPAA

                • Me Notanyoneelse March 9th, 2015 at 07:39

Reading comprehension is your friend. Attempt it.
                  1. Never said 99% of ALL murders. Clearly made the distinction of those not related to crime.
                  2. The crazies are not getting the guns as often as many states have passed legislation that includes mental histories be provided as part of their background checks.
                  3. Numbers were not proven wrong – I proved YOUR claim incorrect because the “study” you were basing that on had lumped all causes together. The headline is a lie, basically.
                  4. I did try to find more recent numbers relating to causation but the reality is that no one is really studying it at all. There are numbers out there but no real hard line basis for any of them.
                  5. Talk about “oh look over here!” when basically as gun ownership goes up (mostly laws allowing concealed carry going up) firearm related murders have gone down. Pretty much shuts down your entire argument in the first place, numbers or not.

                  • bpollen March 9th, 2015 at 15:42

My problem with number one is the only one of your points I have to deal with, because that was the part I took exception with. My proof that #1 is wrong is this quote from your message:
“Which is, wait for it again, 99% of those who commit shootings.”

Seems that even your OWN words prove you wrong. You in no way implied that 99% of shooting were by crazy people, you STATED IT! In black and white, five messages up. What’s next? I took it out of context? I misquoted?

I’m done with this argument. When you deny your very own statements that all and sundry can read for themselves, it seems pointless to even discuss anything with you.

But I will point out that #2 contradicts your own statement that you can’t stop the crazies because of HIPPAA. Now you are saying that crazies can’t get guns because of some states’ legislation… Or, to put it another way, you are taking both sides of your HIPPAA rant.

                  • Obewon March 9th, 2015 at 19:36

Just 31% of U.S. households own guns but cause 2/3 of all U.S. Homicides and suicides. D’oh!

    • Jake March 6th, 2015 at 21:20

But a lot of Republican men do have small penises, so you have to weigh that against your argument.

      • MW March 8th, 2015 at 04:39

That is your argument? Yet we get banned for comments similar but on the other side. You Democrats have destroyed this country and your argument is that Republicans have small penises…and you wonder why we fight you idiots tooth and nail?

        • Jake March 8th, 2015 at 10:14

The fact is – penis compensation is the only argument for placing guns in the hands of Republican racists that makes any sense.
As for Democrats destroying the country – how is that tripled 401k doing? And if yours hasn’t, then I guess you are just as good at handling money as Shrub was.

you are one truly sick fk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • John LaBombard March 7th, 2015 at 05:30

Gee, how exactly am I a sick fk? Because I’m right? Don’t you act all sanctimonious because I want my mother and sisters to be able to defend themselves for people who are stronger, faster and meaner than they are. It’s really depressing that there are people in this country who would rather their loved ones be hurt or killed just because they are afraid to stand up and protect themselves. How exactly is my family’s safety is less important than your fear?

          • fahvel March 7th, 2015 at 09:47

fear??? mon dieu, listen to yourself – you have a family huddling in the house armed to the teeth just in case a big strong mean mofo shows up with the intent to tear the house down. I cannot imagine where the origins of such a paranoia come from but you own it so, be afraid!! The most dangerous people in your society are those with arms – all those sad dead children and filks in the street – can you even list three cases where whipping out the old peace keeper kept a “happy” family safe? whew.

            • MW March 8th, 2015 at 04:37

Try the fact it has happened to me personally (and yes I had a gun..two shots and the house was cleared…and a few dollars to patch the holes and keep myself safe) Also look at the home invasion stats…if you have the guts..and see what real America is up against

You need to take a chill pill and a walk in the Ghettos..then tell me you don’t want a gun. You are an idiot on the level of the nut job running this country into the ground.

  3. edmeyer_able March 6th, 2015 at 10:42

If there are any decent people left in the nra they should resign their membership and join with Gabby and her husband Mark in the effort to pass this legislation. Not to do so is to bear some responsibility for the gun deaths that are a plague on the US.

    • John Tarter March 6th, 2015 at 15:36

We will resign our memberships as soon as you and others like you stop supporting allowing illegals into this country and allow those that are caught here to be deported. Not to do so is to bear some responsibility for the deaths caused by some of those people who are here without permission.

      • tracey marie March 6th, 2015 at 16:34

what a typically asinine comment from you. Reagan, bush, bush all gave amnesty

      • AbolishingIgnorance March 6th, 2015 at 18:31

Because all gun violence and murders are at the hands of immigrants. I think there are more kids killing each other accidentally.

      • Red Mann March 6th, 2015 at 21:26

Who supports allowing “illegals” entering the country? The deportation process takes some time and sometimes, on a local basis, mistakes are made. Of course the right will not even address any reform to the current system. BTW, this administration has deported more immigrants than the last one and added more border guards, so take your RW lying points and stuff them.

        • John Tarter March 7th, 2015 at 14:49

He just let in thousands of illegal children last year you fool.

          • bpollen March 7th, 2015 at 18:29

Please show the attendant crime wave brought about by these illegal children. SInce that seems to be your contention: that crime is a result of illegals (as if Amerikkkans aren’t perfectly capable of committing crimes by themselves… you’d think you never watched a non-Fox news program or newspaper or drama or comedy, never read any books, etc.) If your contention is correct, there should have been an increase in crime to go with those thousands of illegal children (do you even listen to yourself?? – sorry, Manuel, you can’t be a child cuz it’s illegal!)

Failure to show an increase concurrent with that influx blows your “I skeered of illegals” trope out of the water. For every Resendiz, there’s a bumper crop of Gacys and Bundys and Lucases.

Ignorant bigots are a much greater existential threat than children fleeing narco-states.
            Edit: you fool!

      • bpollen March 7th, 2015 at 02:04

        Tater! Little Spuddy!

“We will resign our memberships as soon as you and others like you stop supporting allowing illegals into this country…”

One, the two are not remotely related, so this is just a “look over there, a big distracting thing” that only the brain-dead would fall for. Two, you are being incredibly disingenuous with the whole “resign… as soon as you…” We both know, that should you actually get this reich-wing fantasy, you will simply move the goalposts.

All you seem to do here is pop in, drop some Fox/Jones/Breitbart trope to stir up the natives, and then likely gloat while you sip some cheap fermented beverage… never realizing that you are simply a gremlin, gumming up the works for no perceivable purpose or benefit. A petty annoyance, a gnat or perhaps a housefly, perpetually running into the window. A self-style Le Pétomane, whom everyone else perceives as just a big gas-bag.

        • burqa March 7th, 2015 at 10:51

          You’re being logical.
Tater doesn’t do logic and struggles to stay on topic….

        • John Tarter March 7th, 2015 at 14:48

I’m glad you like my appearances. It would be boring here with just Obama sycophants and you know it.

          • Red Mann March 7th, 2015 at 14:58

Nice try, but those children were fleeing a very dangerous environment and we have laws for that. You just buy any RW lie and distortion you hear.

          • bpollen March 7th, 2015 at 18:19

Once again, you are laboring under a misapprehension, probably brought on by another cognitive failure… One, there are few sycophants here (that’s the Fox/Jones/Breitbart contingent your are thinking of.) Two, nothing I said indicated approval. But I do appreciate your showing your lack of reading comprehension.

          • OldLefty March 8th, 2015 at 08:07

            I know.

We should have GOP sycophants as well.

      • burqa March 7th, 2015 at 10:49

We’ll stop supporting illegals as soon as you and others like you adopt all the babies out there in orphanages.
        See what I did there?

I’ll just keep my “as-soon-as-you-all-pass-the-hat-amongst-yourselves-and-pay-for-the “cakewalk”-in-Iraq card in my hand for future use should you decide to continue down this path.

        • MW March 8th, 2015 at 04:31

The liberal (both Democrat and Republican) agenda has bankrupt this country. Welfare, social security, food stamps, medicare, medicaid, O-Crapper-Care, Department of Homeland Security, No Child Left Behind, Common Core, reducing benefits to VA so returning vets commit suicide at the rate of 22 a day so O-Crapper can play golf, introduction of Islamic Tribunal Courts…your less then skewed mind has lost touch with what the federal government is meant to do..provide for a common defense. Get rid of the Democrats, Republicans, lobbyists and every other politician, this country can get back to what it is supposed to be…The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave…but not while people like you keep asking for more laws and government…there…see what I did?

And who cares about an orphanage? When we stopped teaching common sense and sexual health in schools, that is what you get.

      • burqa March 7th, 2015 at 11:49

We’ll stop supporting illegals when the red states stop taking more federal revenue than they contribute to the treasury.

Y’see, two can play the impossible conditions game that is played when one needs to duck out of a kitchen that has gotten too hot.

Or let’s try this one on for size:
We’ll stop supporting illegals when you give each of us a billion dollars.

      • edmeyer_able March 7th, 2015 at 13:07

If you knew anything at all you’d know Obama has deported more illegals than any previous Potus.
Tell YOUR leaders to work w/Obama to pass legislation to fix the problem instead of working against him

        PASS A F’N BILL.

        • John Tarter March 7th, 2015 at 14:46

BS! He has let in more illegals and refuses to deport even those convicted of crimes. When they finish their sentences they are released into society to await their deportation hearings. And that my friend is a fact.

            • MW March 8th, 2015 at 04:23

Try opening a newspaper. You are so far out of touch with life, you can’t see straight. Come to Texas and see the crap your precious leader has done…then look at the effects his lax caring has dome to California (read about the California town that turned several buses around when they brought several loads of sick immigrants and others into their town)

              • Red Mann March 8th, 2015 at 19:18

You should try reading something that is not part RightWingNoiseAndLyingMachime and you might get exposed to reality. You just simply believe the blatant lies about immigrants that are stock and trade of the right. Texas if chock full of RW nuts, look at the clowns you have elected, Perry, Gohmert et al. The sick immigrant story is a pure falsehood spread by the liars on the right.

                • MW March 17th, 2015 at 05:15

Texas is the last bastion of the original life the Fore Fathers wanted us to live. The rest of the country (with California and New York leading the way) is falling into a great socialist and communist realm. Read the 2nd Amendment and then look at some of the ridiculous laws these states have passed for gun laws. Dems and Republicans have lost their minds and have lost their way. People like you that support them need to wake up or get out of this country so we can get back on track.

                  • OldLefty March 17th, 2015 at 05:33

The Republican Party Platform of the 1950s is communist according to the right wing.

Remember you are the ones who called Eisenhower a communist.

But then that is why Texas is last in everything .

Read the 2nd amendment, (even including the “well trained militia” part.

Wow…ok idiot…I wasn’t alive in the 50’s so there goes argument number one of your worthless a%%.
Where in any of my statements did I call Eisenhower was communist? So you are way off the mark…which is normal for a liberal nutjob.
Texas has better gun laws, lower taxes, better schools…we don’t follow the liberal and conservative BS spewed in Cali and New York (yes…I lived in BOTH states, so your argument there is null and void)
A well trained militia requires both WEPONS (known to you liberal nutjobs as GUNS) and training. So there goes THAT argument.
Not too smart are you? Like every other politically skewed wacko, you come up with worthless arguments to make your side look better. We need to get rid of all politicians and political parties and get back to the basics of what this country was built on…principals…not wackjob ideals and thinking.

Militia throughout the United States of 1792.

    • MW March 8th, 2015 at 04:17

maybe you should do some research into the number of guns in the US compared to the number of actual shootings. Then look into the number of those guns that are help by the black market. Your argument precludes those of us who are responsible. This legislation is the same type of action that would be made if we decided to stop allowing automobiles to be sold just to stop drunk driving deaths. Where is the logic? Oh wait…this is a liberal page…there is no logic…sorry

      • burqa March 7th, 2015 at 10:43

It’s the kind of thing we need to watch out for on the Left.
For some reason, some people think that when they see something deplorable said the proper response is to say something deplorable, because the person objects to deplorable things.
And so the result is a nasty little Left-wing TeaParty is emerging and in large measure is getting a pass.

IF YOU DEPLORE SOMETHING, DON’T DO IT YOURSELF!

        • Me Notanyoneelse March 8th, 2015 at 17:27

I agree with you and would like to see the mods tighten up on those who just want to pick fights, name-call and turn every discussion into exchanges of personal attacks.
There once was a time when just about everyone here eschewed that sort of thing and the discussions were a lot better.
When you guys first got here, Ms. Akions, a lot of the nastiness subsided till people figured out how much they could make it personal.
For a few, they have little to offer other than this sort of juvenilia.
There are a few examples below.

        • MW March 8th, 2015 at 04:10

By having this post and by allowing only one side of this liberal sewage to be seen, this is a personal attack on the Constitutional Rights of those of us who actually fallow sound gun ownership and advocate logic and not some crack pot idea of ridding the country of a tool. If you think getting rid a tool will help, let’s also get rid of cars to stop all drunk driving deaths.

  8. John Tarter March 6th, 2015 at 15:30

This is a very insensitive and stupid remark. But since this has been brought up, the question is: Did the shooter of Gabby Giffords pass a state mandated background check?

    • tracey marie March 6th, 2015 at 16:33

seems we need tougher background checks, we need less guns in public and we need to do it now

      • MW March 8th, 2015 at 04:08

Obviously you have never taken a gun safety class, a force escalation course or a course in self defense. I have been attacked multiple times living in LA and my only course of action was to start carrying a knife. Anyone thinking less guns and deeper background checks needs to look at Compton. How many of those gun toting gang members passed a background check? Your logic is skewed and makes about as much sense as that nut job living in the white house. Wake up and stop smoking the boloney idiots in the liberal camps tell you. Get out and actually live in the real world.

John Tarter tees himself up and Carla Akins uses her new Calloway 3 wood to drive him 350 yards, right down the middle of the fairway….

        Oooooh, nicely played….

      • John Tarter March 7th, 2015 at 14:39

As I suspected. How much stronger background checks do you anti-Constitution folks want? Would having to check out a persons lineage back six generations and a 10 year waiting period be enough?

        • burqa March 7th, 2015 at 17:35

          “Anti-Constitution” you say?
I happen to be familiar with the theory of natural rights espoused by conservatives. For the unfamiliar, these are God-given rights we have from birth and may no be denied to anyone, ever.
The right to self defense is one of these rights and they read the Second Amendment as embodying that right.

          1) Do you agree?

          2) Does the Constitution deny the natural right to self defense and the right to keep and bear arms to anyone?

          3) What about felons, Mr. pro-Constitution?

          • John Tarter March 8th, 2015 at 05:40

            1. Yes.
            2. Constitution and deny? The Constitution is supposed to protect our natural rights.
            3. I don’t have a problem with non – violent felons owning firearms.

          • Me Notanyoneelse March 8th, 2015 at 17:24

You’ve confused the Constitution with the Declaration of Independence. It is the Declaration of Independence that speaks of inalienable rights, given by God to everyone, and they include the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
No such indication is within the Constitution regarding the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights are guaranteed personal freedoms, not God-given freedoms, applied with common sense.
Yes, let’s give the felons guns. smh

      • frambley1 March 6th, 2015 at 23:47

And also money. For some reason getting a bunch of money from the NRA or oil companies (Imhoffe and his snowball) makes people stupid.

  10. Warman1138 March 7th, 2015 at 04:38

I suspect the NRA is more concerned with the interests of gun manufactures than anything else. Their insistence of no laws or regulations for firearms is obvious. Their derogation of victims of gun violence……..despicable.

  11. Carla Akins March 7th, 2015 at 05:57

Actually we don’t know that since stronger background checks have never been put in place before. The NRA may have had more altruistic mission at one-time, but their current mission is clearly based on the needs and wants of the manufacturers.

    • MW March 8th, 2015 at 04:14

What about real life, responsible gun owners? Not everything is about your precious idea that manufacturers and Wall Street are the root cause of all of this. The NRA is there to help stop people like you from taking away our 2nd Amendment right. If you don’t like the idea of the 2nd Amendment, may I suggest somewhere more your style…like Australia?

      • Carla Akins March 8th, 2015 at 18:02

Or removing officers from the road because of the two officers being shot in Ferguson. Your logic is flawed.
…and if you think the whole leave America reeks of me being 12 and having an IQ of 65, then you need to be the first to leave…I am fighting to save the few rights the Fore Fathers granted us and you are fighting to take them away. You are no better than the Muslim wackos in Irvine trying to have the American Flag removed from campus. You are no better than the Muslim wackos in Irvine trying to have the American Flag removed from campus. Take your self righteous mumbo-jumbo and move to Iraq…I am sure they can use another fanatical moron in their ranks.

You are full of crap. Most of your readers, from what I can see, are liberal extremists.

            ______

Spoken like a true conservative extremist.

Again; look at the REPUBLICAN Party platforms of the past.

That is why former aide to Reagan, Bruce Bartlett said, ” I still consider myself to be a conservative in the tradition of Edmund Burke, Russell Kirk and William F. Buckley. I don’t think most of today’s conservatives have any idea who those people were.”

“We are granted the right to keep and bear arms. Meaning, any gun and ammo type we want..”

            _________

It doesn’t mean that at all.

            Even the most far right wing justice, Scalia said in Heller;
“Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is
not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever
in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose: For example, concealed weapons
prohibitions have been upheld under the Amendment or state analogues. The
Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions
on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws
forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools
and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications
on the commercial sale of arms. [United States v.] Miller’s holding that the
sorts of weapons protected are those “in common use at the time” finds
support in the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous
            and unusual weapons.”

“Next you and the rest of the nutjobs that believe the liberal junk spewed will tell me free speech”

            _______

            That would be YOU guys;

The presidential press secretary, Ari Fleischer, condemned Bill Maher’s irreverent comic response to 9/11 by reminding “all Americans that they need to watch what they say, watch what they do.”

Remember the couple Arrested in West Virginia for wearing
anti Bush T shirts at Bush Rally Settles Lawsuit for $80,000

I don’t see you crying over removing cars from the road because of drunk drivers. Or removing officers from the road because of the two officers being shot in Ferguson. Your logic is flawed.

            _______

            Cars are VERY well regulated.

You can sue a car manufacturer, when it’s products t are unnecessarily dangerous and reckless. The gun lobby exempted the gun industry from the same.

It is outrageous that a product that exists for no purpose other than to kill has an exemption from state tort liability. Allowing tort liability would force gun manufacturers to pay some of the costs imposed by their products, increase the prices for assault weapons and maybe even cause some manufacturers to stop making them.

Step out of the echo chamber once in a while.

            Dude, get help. Seriously.

We don’t need stronger background checks. We need different background checks. Ones that check for criminal history and any history of mental illness. Outside of crime related shootings, nine times out of ten the person pulling the trigger has a history of mental illness which is forbidden by law to release in a background check. The tenth time? Usually the firearms are stolen or obtained illegally and no law or background check is going to prevent that.
The NRA probably would not even exist as a lobbying agent if the liberals were not constantly trying to disarm law abiding citizens. Those very actions are what give the NRA its power. The constant attack on the 2nd amendment.

Once again, the NRA leadership demonstrates that it has bullets for brains.

The NRA’s argument makes as much sense as claiming that — because some people die in car crashes while wearing their seat belts — laws requiring drivers and passengers to wear seat belts serve no purpose and should therefore be repealed.

More evidence that the NRA was to blame for her attack, now they are just bragging about it.
