The Austrian woman became pregnant via an egg donor.

Until recently IVF treatment using donated eggs or sperm other than from a spouse was banned in Austria but an amendment to the law on reproductive medicine in January means donations are allowed as long as the recipient is aged 45 or younger…

It is extremely rare for a 60-year-old woman to give birth. According to Statistics Austria it has only happened twice in Austria since 1970.

However, the small number of women who are having children between the ages of 50 and 59 is rising – in 2010 there were 11 and in 2013 there were 23.

      why not? no one seems to have a problem when men in their 60’s still are making babies.

        Mom (and no mention of a Dad) will be 75 when this child is an angst-filled teen. Perhaps she is in fabulous shape and has a family history of extremely long life but it’s an incredibly irresponsible act.

          i didn’t say it was a good idea… lol. i wouldn’t want to do that. and considering, you’re right about life expectancy issue. just thought i’d play devils advocate for a second.

    Just wondering if right wing christians will change their anti-abortion stance to pro-abortion in this case? What would they think and do? Dilemma?
