‘Movement’ To Declassify 28 Pages Of 9/11 Report

Posted by | January 4, 2015 17:00 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

There is a big push to declassify 28 pages of the congressional 9/11 report, believed to include Saudi Arabia’s involvement in 9/11.

On Wednesday, the former co-chairman of the panel that produced the heavily-redacted 2002 report will hold a Capitol Hill press conference calling for its complete release. Former Democratic Sen. Bob Graham will join Reps. Walter Jones (R-NC) and Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.), as well as 9/11 families, to demand President Obama shine light on the entire blanked-out Saudi section.

Graham claims the redaction is part of an ongoing “coverup” of the role of Saudi officials in the 9/11 plot. He maintains the Saudi hijackers got financial aid and other help from the Saudi consulate in Los Angeles and the Saudi embassy in Washington, as well as from wealthy Sarasota, Fla., patrons tied to the Saudi royal family.

Jones and Lynch say they will reintroduce their resolution urging Obama to declassify the information in the newly seated Congress. The bipartisan bill has attracted 21 co-sponsors, including 10 Republicans and 11 Democrats, since first introduced 12 months ago.

President George W. Bush claimed he couldn’t release the information because it was too sensitive and could jeopardize the War on Terror. But Obama has declared both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars over, making his reluctance more curious.

We all know this was financed by the Saudi’s, this is about oil/gas and OPEC…business nothing more

Not having seen what’s in it, I’m not going to guess.
I’ve done quite a bit of research on the topic of terrorism and doubt the Saudi government financed 9/11.
They did, however, have some shady involvement with a consulate in California that had contact with al Hazmi and al-Mihdhar, as I recall.
The reason given for 15 of the hijackers being Saudi was the ease with which Saudis were able to get visas to the U.S. A person could mail in an application and not even have to show up in person to pick it up.
Salem bin Laden had been in business in Texas with the Bushes, too.

since the men were from Saudi Arabia just like OBL…I would say they do finance terror

Would you say the same thing about Ireland, since they have had a bunch of terrorist groups there?
If so, may as well toss in France, Germany, Greece, Japan, Spain, Italy, Colombia, Peru, the Philippines, to name a few that come to mind immediately. I can name terrorist groups in all of them, but would not say those countries are out financing terror.

One thing that’s significant about bin Laden is he’s from the Hadramawt, and none of the hijackers were, to my memory. That may not be significant but a little something in the back of my head says it is or should be considered.
I have a friend who is an expert on Arab culture and the different tribes and I should run those guys by her to see what she says.

At this point I think it’s a good idea to be willing to change any conclusions as more facts come in. The thing to avoid is the tendency to only look at facts that fit our conclusions, rather than looking at all the facts and then drawing conclusions. if there are significant facts still out there that changed this representative’s mind as he said, then we need to be in a place where we can alter our conclusions.

Probably more like Saudi Arabia and Cheney’s involvement.

Check out Congressman Thomas Massie describing the experience of reading the 28 pages. “Shocking,” “disturbing,” prompted him to stop every few pages and “rearrange his understanding of history” –> http://28pages.org/2014/07/17/video-rep-massie-on-the-experience-of-reading-the-28-pages/

I happen to be reading “The End of America,” written by Naomi Wolf in 2007. She list 10 typical steps dictators, such as Hitler and Mousilini, have used over the years to secure power:
      1. Invoke external and internal threats.
      2. Secret prisons.
      3. Develop paramilitary, secret police force.
      4. Spy on ordinary citizens.
      5. Infiltrate citizen groups,i.e. local police.
      6. Arbitrary detention and release of citizens.
7.Target/intimidate key individuals, such as lawyers and watchdog groups.
      8. Restrict the press.
      9. Criticism becomes espionage and dissent turns to treason.
      10. Subvert the rule of law.

      Thanks for the link.
I wonder how much Massie knew beforehand.
I’ve spent many, many hours studying the 9/11 Commission Report and the House/Senate Joint Inquiry. The 9/11 Commission Report has a great deal of information buried by the staff in the footnotes that a lot of people never bother looking at.
One of my ongoing projects is combing through there taking notes on information given in various interrogations and putting them on a timeline. For one thing, they explode the myth that Binalshibh and Zubaida were not giving intel before they were waterboarded. The footnotes have the dates of those interrogations in the footnotes.

I’m in favor of them reconvening the 9/11 Commission because there has been a lot of information emerge since their report. There are still quite a few unanswered questions and even information they never looked at. For example, no one on the commission ever looked at the files of the NSA, even though they were available.
The 9/11 Commission was poorly funded and given a tight timeline and is the only murder investigation I ever heard of with a statute of limitations.
The Republicans fought even having it and tried to limit it in every way they could.
Bush and Cheney were never sworn in – it was a condition they imposed so they could lie without facing a charge of perjury.
There were some shenanigans, such as trying to insert language unsupported by the intelligence that Iraq was connected to al Qaeda.
A lot of the really good information is buried in the footnotes in the back.
Philip Shenon of the New York Times did a very good book about it titled “The Commission: What We Didn’t Know About 9/11”.
