Tabloid Names Navy SEAL Who Killed Bin Laden

Posted by | November 5, 2014 18:11 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories War & Peace

The Daily Mail has revealed the identity of the Navy SEAL who killed bin Laden.

The Navy hero is set to give a full interview to Fox News later this month and waive his anonymity but MailOnline has established that he is Rob O’Neill, a highly-decorated veteran who quit after 16 years service.

In an exclusive interview Rob’s father, Tom O’Neill, tells MailOnline, ‘People are asking if we are worried that ISIS will come and get us because Rob is going public. I say I’ll paint a big target on my front door and say come and get us.’

Rob O’Neill, 38, is a former member of SEAL Team Six who has been portrayed on screen in Zero Dark Thirty, Captain Phillips and Lone Survivor…

O’Neill was personally congratulated for killing bin Laden – in his account at close range with three shots to his forehead – during the SEAL raid on Abbottobad, in Pakistan, on 2 May 2011.

Questions have previously been raised over the exact narrative of how bin laden came to die, although the dispute centers on an alternative account which claims O’Neill shot him once, leaving him mortally-wounded and the terrorist was killed by two other SEALs with further shots to the chest rather than forehead.

O’Neill’s decision to speak out was prompted by losing some of his military benefits by quitting the SEALs after 16 years rather than staying for a full 20 years of service.

-and he likes wounded veterans too!
      GREAT!
now with the Republicans in control of Congress, Vets should be getting immediate top of the line healthcare service and facilities, but instead Republican Senate Leadership waste the entire first day talking about what he going to do to USE the US Senate to build up the Republican Party? – just leaves the vets lying there, just leaves America lying there – THIS! -is what he’s gonna use the US Senate for to help the Republican Party?
I’m not seeing a damn thing yet for what the Republicans are gonna do to speed up the nations recovery from the last GOP Great Recession! I’m not seeing a damn thing the Republicans are doing to help the Vets, all I’m seeing and hearing is what they’re gonna do for their own selves!
Republicans need to get off their deadbeat do nothing lazy privileged class WHITE butts and get to work on what they PROMISED TO DO – not what they’re gonna do for their own selves, or their political party.

OK, it’s really nice to know that OBL is actually dead. No doubt it’ll eventually come out that POTUS Obama actually was born in Hawaii to a US Citizen which will also be nice, but isn’t doing a damn thing to speed up the recovery from the last GOP Great Recession.
New Congress, hop to! not much time and trying to stop POTUS Obama from seeking re-election in 2016 ain’t speeding up a damn thing!
WHOLE damn day wasted -and I’m not seeing anything!

He quits and wants to make money off of this. Fox is in a bind, half their sycophants do not believe OBL is dead and the other half are getting their diapers changed as we type

OP: “O’Neill’s decision to speak out was prompted by losing some of his military benefits by quitting the SEALs after 16 years rather than staying for a full 20 years of service.”

    Well that’s just plain stupid.
What, is this gonna get him his government benefits?
I’ll bet he’s still mighty young, he didn’t have to do this or starve.

It was a much better story when President Obama met them all and asked who killed bin Laden and was told, “We all did, sir.”
Now it looks as if this guy has chosen to go the hotdog route because he didn’t want to work 4 more years. Good grief, chances are this guy is under 45, probably under 40. He had the choice of working 4 more years and cashing in on lucrative government bennies while preserving not only his anonymity, but the image of the SEALs as a team, – OR cashing in by making the SEALs look like less of a team as a collection of glory hounds.

Icing on the cake is we hear of it from some cheesy British tabloid.

The article states that he’s thirty eight. And, my guess is that he was hung out to dry by the media types who promised him riches “beyond his wildest dreams” then dropped him when his story couldn’t be confirmed.

16 years makes no sense. He will get $0 retirement and after a year, he will no longer have health insurance through the military, he will have to go to the VA. I am guessing he may believe that because he was part of Seal Team 6, he will be getting a fat paycheck from someone who will be happy to exploit him. I won’t say anything bad about this hero, but it is sad he just didn’t do his 20.

    • granpa.usthai November 5th, 2014 at 19:54

he can still cash in on 20 years of government employment by working at another federal job, and without having to get up early -or living away from home – or taking out dangerous terrorist leaders like OBL all by himself with only token back up support – mostly for drama backdrop no doubt. But I do fail to see how this is helping our wounded vets? or speeding up the economic recovery from the last GOP Great Recession? I remember when POTUS OBAMA first took on the job as CEO of company USA. Already had a plan (SAVED OUR NATION FROM A GREATER GOP ECONOMIC DEPRESSION THAN THE 1929 Market CRASH) and hit the ground running! I admire that in an employee. For one it shows initiative, but it also shows a real loyal interest in the company’s success. Not anything at all like a pack of complainers sitting in the back doing everything they can to sabotage production so they can come back in and save the day – AGAIN, only to find out on day one it’s ALL about what they can do for themselves and F the owners, F the production and F the company! – but, like before, if it opens the eyes of the other owners to who’s really doing what – it may actually be best for the company in the long run, but then again, with any business where owners neglect to demand ALL workers pull together …
the majority of the owners who do care about company USA -against my wishes – opted to put the very same supervisors that ran it into the ground last time back in control -OK.
But from what the leader of the pack said today, I don’t see one damn thing different than last time. It’s all about what they can get for their little group and the rest of US, company USA and all, be damned! If the other co-owners don’t see or give a damn this time round – there’s really little reason for company USA to stay in business.

Notwithstanding his heroic actions, he is a dumbass for quitting after 16 years, and not becoming eligible for the pension he richly deserves.

    • TomWaitsDisciple November 6th, 2014 at 13:20

as opposed to getting on board a plane in Afghanistan and getting shot down like a bunch of his comrades and dying….
