‘Django Unchained’ Actress Handcuffed By Cops After They Assumed She Was A Hooker
Watts was handcuffed after refusing to show ID, which she says she was within her rights to not do, based on the law, according to The YBF.
“Today I was handcuffed and detained by 2 police officers from the Studio City Police Department after refusing to agree that I had done something wrong by showing affection, fully clothed, in a public place,” Watts’ Facebook post reads.
“When the officer arrived, I was standing on the sidewalk by a tree. I was talking to my father on my cell phone. I knew that I had done nothing wrong, that I wasn’t harming anyone, so I walked away.”
She continued to say, “A few minutes later, I was still talking to my dad when 2 different police officers accosted me and forced me into handcuffs.”
Watts’ husband, Brian James Lucas, wrote on Facebook, “So they handcuffed her and threw her roughly into the back of the cop car until they could figure out who she was. In the process of handcuffing her, they cut her wrist, which was truly NOT COOL!!!”
“Our freedom isn’t freedom folks, when people can abuse others with no reason or evidence at all just because they “think” they have been given the power by people that are ONLY equal to us. Of course, they had to let her go eventually cuz we weren’t a threat to anyone. They weren’t expecting D to be so intelligent and outspoken, and left truly feeling the fear vibration finding out that they had just fucked with 2 celebrities,” he wrote.

Why in the world would police assume that a couple having sex in a parked car with the passenger door open would be a prostitute and her trick?

That looks pretty damaging. I guess Watts isn’t so sweet innocent after all.

She made a statement that she had just got out of a meeting when she was in the car with her husband and they were kissing, when she got out of the car to call her father. that’s when she was approached.

TMZ: “we’ve learned witnesses from the nearby Directors Guild office building told cops they were watching her and her BF have full-on sex in the passenger seat WITH THE DOOR OPEN! The eyewitnesses said the guy was sitting in the seat, she was straddling him and it was for everyone to see.

It could be the people that witnessed the event didn’t want to come forward. I don’t know for sure but it doesn’t look good. So disappointed at the moment. I hope Watts hasn’t been playing with people through the media.

“Upon further investigation it was determined that no crime had been committed.” UScelebrity reports. it would make sense that if this one person was interviewed by the police in their “investigation” that the indecency was unfounded. think about it for a moment. just left a meeting and sitting in front of the building, for all the world to see, having full on sex with the car door open? i don’t think so. a black woman and a white man, kissing in a car and profiled, likely by some white woman. i guess all successful black women with white men would not look like them as a couple.

In newly released audio from the incident, the trouble escalates when Watts refuses to provide identification to the officer. “We’re not doing anything. I’m on the phone with my dad, this is my boyfriend, this is a public place,” Watts is heard saying. “You know how many times the cops have been called just for being black? I’m just being really honest.”
“Who brought up the race card?” an officer replies. “I said nothing about you being black. I have every right to ask for your ID.”
“I have every right to say no, and if you’d like to demand it, you can take me down to the court office and I can make a scene about it,” an irate Watts replies. “And you know what? I have a publicist and I work as an actor at [CBS Studios]. If you’d like my ID you can say I am resisting arrest.” “There’s no resisting, you’re just interfering,” the officer says as the disagreement over her ID continues.
Later, an emotional Watts is heard shouting on the phone, “I can’t make out with my boyfriend in front of my f—— studio without the cops getting called!”

This is not a race issues, it’s a celebrity getting preferential treatment issue. A regular person having public sex would have been arrested.

that’s why there’s no report and that’s why no arrest and that’s why they shouldn’t have put her in cuffs period. she was within her rights period.

The above article says the man with Ms. Watts is her husband. In the audio recording, she refers to the man as her boyfriend. Which is it?

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Officer Michael Lewis said LAPD Sgt. Jim Parker, who had briefly handcuffed Watts, handled the situation with Watts the way he was supposed to have done. He said that Watts’s decision to be uncooperative is what resulted in her being detained, and that anyone who responded to an officer who was conducting an investigation in such a manner would be faced with the same result.
Watts and Lucas both matched the description of two people the 911 caller had alleged were engaging in sex in a car. The 911 caller had described a black female who was wearing floral shorts, a t-shirt, and sneakers; they also a white man wearing a black tank top.
According to Officer Lewis, if someone calls the police and complains of a public nuisance, such as a lewd act that is occurring in the public sphere, and authorities arrive on the scene to address and investigate that issue, they are required to furnish identification upon request.
