California Man Arrested for Allegedly Yelling ‘White Power’ And Trying To Stab Black Guy
A 36-year-old California man allegedly yelled “white power” at bystanders, then tried to stab an African American man he did not know in front of a billiards hall.
Police received a call about 5:00 p.m. on Thursday reporting that a man was wielding a knife and threatening to stab people in front of the business, according to Costa Mesa Police Lt. Greg Scott.
“Officers learned that minutes earlier, Wyman had forced a near violent confrontation with several bystanders whom Wyman did not personally know,” Scott said. “According to witnesses, without provocation, Wyman had purposely shoved his chest against the chest of an African American male adult who happened to be standing in front of the billiards hall. Wyman next reportedly called the male a racial slur and threatened to kill him.”
According to OC Weekly, Wyman allegedly turned his attention to two other men in the parking lot, neither of whom knew the first African American male. Those two were black men and a Hispanic man was reportedly targeted as well.
Wyman allegedly brandished the knife toward the two “in a threatening manner, before abruptly turning his attention back toward the first male,” Scott said, adding the knifeman “made several stabbing motions” at the African American fellow, who had to pick up a small cocktail table to use as a shield from the attack.
Wyman then got on a bicycle and rode off westbound where he was confronted by police officers.
The suspect is accused of refusing to comply with commands and had to be held at gunpoint before cops could safely handcuff him, Scott said.
While searching Wyman, a large folding knife in the locked open position was discovered inside a front pants pocket, according to Scott. Wyman was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, making a terrorist threat, hate crimes, violating parole and a gang enhancement.
He’s held without bail. According to witnesses, the attack was unprovoked.
According to the Orange County Register, in November 2013, Wyman pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication. About a month later, he was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon.
In 1995, he was sentenced to seven years in state prison after being convicted of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, and two criminal gang enhancements.

FYI, I’m black and I do not use derogatory terms to refer to others. I also do not use the “n” word to refer to anyone, either. My parents taught their kids that it wasn’t a good idea to use a word others use in a disparaging manner toward us to refer to ourselves. Contrary to what some like yourself might believe, not every black person uses the words you think they do. The rule in my parents’ home was: You treat others like the individuals they are, like you want to be treated. Name-calling of any kind was strictly prohibited.
I don’t know when the last time occurred that I heard someone use the word ‘cracker(s’.)

“Cracker” isn’t even an insult. I’ve never met a single person who would be offended by that word. It is in no way equivalent to the demeaning, degrading “N” word.
The word :”cracker” comes from the sadistic, poorly-educated overseers who used to crack the whip at the toiling slaves. It’s a term that accurately describes ignorant racist right-wing bigots.

Ha! I’d say “Thanks Bro!” When I was 17 (in 1976!) me and my girlfriend lived in the heart of a black neighborhood in downtown St. Petersburg FL. At first we heard “cracker” and “hoojie” and even the dreaded “HONKY”! We laughed about it and offered to smoke weed with a bunch of our neighbors after that. And after that, we were never harassed again. They kind of adopted us as their white hippie token friends and we all had a great summer while we lived there. We had an open fire pit where we would boil shrimp and crab legs and everybody came over with their hot sauce and we sat around and smoked and we ALL got along. Our downstairs neighbors even made sure nobody went upstairs if we were away for a day or two. So glad my mama and daddy raised me color blind! And I’m from Kentucky! #Peace!

I first encountered those long-haired, bell-bottom-wearing, love-beaded “freaks” in the summer of 1972 in Washington Square Park in the heart of New York’s Greenwich Village. They were the first white people I encountered who fully accepted me as a human being. Ultimately, I fell in love with the hippies and became one myself. Forty-plus years later, their “peace, love and happiness” ethos is still my guiding life principle.

Hey man awesome to meet you! The summer of 1972 I was 13 years old. It was THE defining summer of my life. I celebrated my birthday on May 24th, and the next day we moved from a little town of 13,000 people to Lexington, KY, which was about 150,000 at that time IIRC. But, the next day, I was put on a jet for the first time in my life, and went to San Jose California to spend the summer with my father, for the first time ever. I had long hair already by then, but I didn’t know how much more there was to being a hippie! My dad took a raw country boy who had heard every racial epitaph known to man spewed from a step-father’s mouth and in the course of 3 months, made me into the man I am today. My dad accepted EVERY person as an equal, as he used to say, “until they show me otherwise”. He hated prejudice to his core. I could go on and on about that summer, but I don’t want to write a trove on this post! But he took me to Haight-Asbury and all over San Francisco showing me the good and the bad, since by 1972 there was a different mix of people. He made me a life-long Raiders and A’s fan, too. Man I remember that summer just like it was yesterday. I am back in that small town now, as an older man I have a new appreciation of what I have learned and how I can influence people around here now. I have a lot of friends from all walks of life and spend a lot of time sitting at a table with a mix of old black men, redneck farmers who have watched all their family’s work go to seed, and the young and old from the housing project that the convenience store I work for sits next to. Every person I know has a story to tell if you listen. Thanks for sharing and allowing me to share a little more about my life. Peace!
