Missouri Councilman Is Totally Sorry About Those Racist Facebook Posts About Obama

A Poplar Bluff city councilman (R) in Missouri, is under fire for posting racist photos of President Obama on his Facebook page but, he explains that he didn’t mean to offend anyone. Of course not.

When the issue was brought up at Monday night’s city council meeting, the following day councilman Peter Tinsley apologized saying, “At one time, I was a very active republican, very opposed to Obama.”

Remember when the Tea Party swept into the House in 2010 and the image of President Obama, the Usurper, circulated portraying our first black President as a Kenyan witch doctor because he’s a scary black man? Well that’s what Tinsley did.

According to Talking Points Memo, the councilman insisted that when he posted the photos last year, he never meant to offend anyone.

Seriously.  It’s like posting images of Tinsley in a KKK hood, then saying, “Oh, I didn’t mean to offend anyone.”

However, some were offended. Imagine that.

“To come from a city council [member], a city government official, this is highly unthought of, even in Poplar Bluff Missouri,” Reverend Tommy Robison said during the meeting.

Robinson happens to live in Ward 5, the very same area Tinsley represents. “I’m highly upset over this, along with the residents of our ward,” Robinson said.

Tinsley responded saying, “I apologize from the bottom of my heart ” and we totally believe him.

“At one time, I was a very active republican, very opposed to Obama,” Tinsley said.

Although some Republicans claimed that his post was contrary to what their party believes in, our memory is not as lacking. Republicans helped to empower the tea party, therefore, this is simply just a product of the GOP.  Imagine doing the sexy thing with Frankenstein then apologizing because the kid you produced was a rat f*cker.

Nevertheless, he’s totally sorry.

“I want people to know that I am very remorseful for it. It was inappropriate. I believe I got caught up in an emotional moment of sharing jokes. It seemed funny at the time but today it’s very serious and it’s not funny at all,” Tinsley said.

Har har, hardee har har. Isn’t he funny?

Tinsley not only apologized to the people of Poplar Bluff, but also to members of the Republican Party.

“Anything that I have said, that I referred to the activity because I was a Republican, that is not true. It’s not an excuse ,” Tinsley said.

TPM reports:

Some members of Ward 5 say they accept Tinsley’s apology, but are asking for one more thing.

“We want to see some positive outcomes and that really validates an individual’s apology. We are looking for the same thing that the church would be looking for and that is healing and restoration,” Robinson said.

Tinsley and his constituents agree.

“Pray and hope that there is some positiveness that can come out of this, what was done last night,” William Turner said.

“I believe we can move past this,” Tinsley said.

“Tinsley took office in April 2014. He said despite this incident, he plans to uphold his responsibilities as councilman here in Poplar Bluff.

Remember when the Tea Party was a thing? Karma is also a thing and the Tea Party’s time is up. Tick tock.

You know what I think is worse than the racism? It’s the faux-remorse they feel because they were caught for their hatred of anything not lily-white.

You can boot the racist from the Republican Party leadership, but you cannot so easily remove the racist beliefs from the racist.
