Stelter: Chuck Todd To Be New ‘Meet The Press’ Host

Posted by | August 14, 2014 14:13 | Filed under: Media/Show Business Politics Top Stories

CNN’s Brian Stelter is reporting that Chuck Todd will replace David Gregory on “Meet the Press.”

NBC will name Chuck Todd the new host of “Meet the Press” as soon as Thursday afternoon, according to people with direct knowledge of the network’s plans.

The sources confirmed widespread speculation that David Gregory, who moderated the show for the past six years, will be replaced by Todd, and is expected to leave NBC.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment on the record. One said that the transition will be swift — so swift that Gregory will not even host “Meet the Press” this weekend.

An NBC spokeswoman declined to comment.

    I’m so disappointed.

Me too. They should just let it die.

Gregory leaving NBC and CNN gets the scoop, is Gregory going to CNN? CNN is Fox lite so it would make sense. Kind of disappointed in Todd but better than Gregory. I hope Todd can develop a more forceful approach for MTP but my expectations are low.

I think Dancing Dave would be more at home on Fox.

Good riddance to “dancing Dave”. No more water-carrying for Israel and the GOP, Davey, and here’s hoping your downward spiral continues.

Well I stopped watching the show years ago so this really doesn’t effect me. I do watch Todd’s MSNBC show on days where I work in the afternoon and I will say he comes off as being a bit too out of touch for a job like this. By that I mean he’s not very good and breaking away from inside the beltway wisdom. His show is just an hour of inside baseball with no broader implications ever discussed. He seems to me like the ultimate insider.

Eric – that’s why Todd is going to be the new MTP host, that he is a poseur for the Inside the Beltway self-important.

Ohhhh Todd – you’re so funny I forgot to laugh.

He’s got two first names. What’s not to like?

Meet the new host. Same as the old host.

      Same song.

      Second verse.

      Little louder.

      Little worse.

Like that is going to make their numbers go up! I’ll keep watching Face the Nation, thank you!

Since Tim Russert passed I have had no use for MTP and Todd replacing Gregory will only be minor improvement (if any). Still not likely to watch MTP regardless…

Hope NBC checked with John and Lindsey before they make the switch and the first guests are John and Lindsey!

    • DetroitSam August 14th, 2014 at 20:54

I’ll take bets that McInsane and Ms. Lindsay are already booked.

I am no fan of Todd. I see nothing here that means change other than the name of the host. The same uselessness that exist now will exist with Chuck Todd.

” I see nothing here that means change other than the name”….well there is the difference in facial hair. ;-)
