Republican Congressman Begs Obama: ‘Please Don’t’ Make Congress Impeach You

Posted by | August 3, 2014 13:21 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories

You see, if President Obama is impeached, it’s because he made Congress do it. Congress has no control over what it does. It is forced to do what Obama wants. If this is true, and Congress impeaches Obama, it will then be the first time Congress listened to him.

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) pleaded with President Barack Obama over the weekend not to force the House of Representatives to begin impeachment hearings by taking executive action on reforming the immigration process after Congress failed to do so.

In an interview on Sunday, Fox News host Chris Wallace asked King what Republicans would do if the president decided to take executive action to stop the deportation of 11 million undocumented immigrants.

“None of us want to do the thing that’s left for us as an alternative,” King explained. “But if the president has decided that he’s simple not going to enforce any immigration law or at least not against anybody except the felons — which essentially he has done already, this is a broader group of people — I think Congress has to sit down and have a serious look at the rest of this Constitution, and that includes that i-word that we don’t want to say.”

The Iowa Republican added: “And I only say that now because I want to encourage the president, ‘Please don’t put America into a constitutional crisis. Please don’t do that. There’s too much at stake in this country to be decided that you can take over the Constitution and write it at will.'”

You hear that, you Marxist, Kenyan-born, birth certificate-forging, America-hating president? Don’t make Congress impeach you. It’s your choice!

“None of us want to do the thing that’s left for us as an alternative,”, you mean like act on the immigration legislation that’s before you in the House? Or, heave forbid, proposing legislation? I bet you can’t be forced to eat vegetables, either, can you Stevie.

As usual, I have regrets watching the Sunday morning news shows and on This week, Stephanopolous hit more than a few times that it is the dems mentioning “impeachment” (as a means of revving up its base) than the wingers. Yet he doesn’t elaborate on it other than it being a numerical thing. The wingers are the ones saying impeach our president, I mean that is a huge distinction.

So what question was missing in asking one of the panel masters regarding this?

“When is the last time you heard democrats calling for an impeachment of a republican president?” That’s the soft question, throw in “Why” in the beginning of the question and “black” somewhere in it, and you get *crickets*.

Impeachment proceedings would probably be the closest thing to turning the House blue, short of conceding all House elections in November by the Republicans
