House Authorizes Suit Against Obama

Posted by | July 30, 2014 19:12 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories

Stupidly, the House of Representatives has authorized suing President Obama.

The resolution passed the Republican-controlled House in a party-line vote of 225-201 on Wednesday. All but five Republicans voted for the measure, while all 199 Democrats voted against it.

The coming lawsuit will accuse Obama of exceeding his constitutional authority as president by making unilateral changes to the Affordable Care Act — specifically, in twice delaying implementation of the law’s so-called employer mandate.

Breaking: House republicans collectively shoot themselves in the foot.

      You left out *again.

The House Republican resolution to sue the POTUS is yet another tea party-driven decision that is desperately in need of a rational justification.

“Let’s shoot now — we can figure out what we were aiming at later.”

Yet another act of legislative masturbation by the ideologically-frustrated, politically-impotent members of the House Republican caucus.

I’m sure they all feel much better now.

    Poor Boehner.
He has to humor the juvenile delinquents in the base.

Didn’t they have to crowdsource to come up with a reason??

Funniest thing of all is that now, they are asking for unelected branch, the Courts, to intervene because they, an elected branch, don’t like the other elected branch??

Will they now go judicial activist shopping?

    • tiredoftea July 30th, 2014 at 19:43

They’ve been doing that for 30 years or so. The judges are in place.

Speaker Pelosi. I like the sound of that. The GOP just gave the House to the Democrats. How sweet it is.

    • tiredoftea July 30th, 2014 at 19:46

I don’t know as I’d count on that. I’m not seeing any fringe fatigue on the part of the right. Or, any groundswell of high voter turnout on the left.

Boehner’s GOP devotees are a lot dimmer than his lawyer. Atty Elizabeth Price Foley representing GOP’s Boehner in his suit against President Obama has already argued that the suit has no legal standing. Repulsives are doing nothing more than appealing to the ignorant voters who put them in office in the first place. Repulsives talk about being against wasteful spending yet they are wasting millions for some frivolous law suit they have no chance of winning.
Repulsives have allowed this country’s recovery to stall with their obstructionist behavior and spiteful rhetoric. Repulsives hate for President Obama is despicable and UN-American because they are putting their party first instead of the country. Repulsives are nothing more than thugs in suits. VOTE THEM OUT IN NOVEMBER!!!

Let’s do it. Also, let’s lower the taxes on cigarettes.

We should round up all the guns in America. Then we should abolish private insurance companies, and make all religions illegal.

        • tiredoftea July 30th, 2014 at 23:31

And nationalize all companies. Well, Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood anyway.

            All companies. And all schools.

The Constitutional requirement for such a suit is whether or not the party filing suit has suffered injury. The House has not suffered any injury. Therefor, the House has no standing to sue, and it will be tossed in short order. Thanks for playing Rethugs, and thanks for making hard working Americans foot the bill for your folly with their tax money. :) Oh, and record DNC fundraising, thx.

    • tiredoftea July 30th, 2014 at 23:32

You are assuming a rational judiciary. These days, that’s quite the stretch.

      • Dwendt44 July 31st, 2014 at 00:16

True. I suspect that Bohner will be ‘judge shopping’ by next week. Finding a friendly judge that will allow the case to go forward regardless.

This is a complete farce, it’s making the US a laughingstock, having our government suing each other should humiliate all of us who actually care about the country, obviously the republicans don’t!
Since the house republicans can sue the president over policy why can’t the house democrats sue the supreme court over citizens united? Or the Senate democrats sue the house republicans over not doing anything on immigration?
Let’s all file a lawsuit against Boehner since we are still waiting on that jobs bill he promised in ’10!!
