Germany Considering Using Typewriters After NSA Scandal

Chairman of Germany’s NSA Committee of Inquiry , Patrick Sensburg told Die Welt news yesterday that the German Government is considering reverting to old-fashioned typewriters to replace computers.

As reported in The Gurdian:

Asked “Are you considering typewriters” by the interviewer on Monday night, the Christian Democrat politician Patrick Sensburg said: “As a matter of fact, we have – and not electronic models either”. “Really?”, the surprised interviewer checked. “Yes, no joke”, Sensburg responded.

The planned retrograde is among many submitted to thwart spying in wake of the US NSA spying scandal.

The use of passé typing has grown in popularity, not only with hipsters attempting to draw attention to themselves at Starbucks, but with many (in the sock wearing, clean-shaven community), who feel it is the best way to protect their right to privacy in an electronic age.

Last year Russia made the switch for certain sensitive agencies ordering 20 Triumph Adler typewriters after the Edward Snowden revelations about US spying activities made computers and word processors “too mainstream.”

Actually it’s not a bad idea. I feel bad for any NSA agents that may have read my email but I’m sure it helped them to get to sleep at night.

“After NSA scandal” and before… SAP scandal: http://leoapotheker-mylife.com/
It’s strange, when NSA is spying that’s bad but when German SAP is spying that’s fine…

This reminds me of the movie “Mercury Rising”, where the analyst needs to get a message out, but knows that all cell phones, computers are being monitored by the NSA. And at a flea market, they see an old typewriter and go old school with the message. Just dont forget to eliminate the Carbon Copies…

Have you ever watched Mercury Rising?

I’m not even sure. It sounds familiar. I don’t have a lot of time for films so I like it to be a good one when I watch one. If you recommend it, I’ll check it out.

Edit: I’m looking at the trailer now. I have not seen the film but so far, I’m loving the trailer.

it is a really good movie about an Autistic boy who cracks the NSA’s top secret code. The NSA comes out and murders his parents, and the boy who was hiding in a closet gets found by bruce Wills who is a cop. And then finds himself tasked with protecting the boy, while on the run and trying to solve the murders. Alec Baldwin is the head of the NSA in the movie. If you catch it, watch it. It really is a good movie.
