Dozens Arrested In ‘Straw’ Gun-Buying Investigation

The investigation began with the killing of a 5-year-old by a man who used a gun as a cane to get up from a couch. Now, 26 people have been arrested on weapons, drugs and other charges.

The investigation uncovered a ring in southern Oregon that specialized in “straw” purchases of weapons, buys designed to conceal the ultimate recipient, the Grants Pass Daily Courier reported.

The man convicted in the girl’s killing, Jon A. Meyer Jr., 30, was involved in such a purchase, touching off the investigation revealed Wednesday in a statement from the Jackson County sheriff’s office.

Five more people are being sought. The investigation involved federal state and local agencies.

Why can’t they buy the guns legally? It’s not hard to do.

Well if they are not legally allowed to own one because of a criminal record, they use this a one means to acquire these guns. Straw purchasing is a big no-no. I jsut wish the government would also regulate private sales and guns shows where one doesn’t have to register the gun purchases.

gun shows are the other main way for criminals to purchase guns they aren’t allowed to own. No records, no background checks.

They can, the ones they are buying them for can’t. White militia’s, women’s wealth patriots, separatists, sovereign citizens, the list goes on.

Isn’t this the same thing the government sponsored in the ‘Fast & Furious’ program? These folks in OR broke the law. They are criminals and should be punished. Apparently criminals break laws. If criminals were removed from the streets, guns could not possibly be a problem. DUH! Let’s treat the problem (the criminal) not the symptoms.
