KKK Grand Dragon Claims Discrimination When Kicked Off Neighborhood Watch
William Walters, Grand Dragon of the East Coast Knights of the KKK, claims he is being discriminated against for being a Christian because he has been asked to leave his neighborhood watch group. He says the Klan is just a Christian group, but couldn’t seem to explain how the Klan could be defined that way in light of Jesus being non-white and Jewish.

Its really quite outrageous to further sully the name of the KKK by calling them Christians. The KKK may have killed hundreds possibly thousands – but they pale (see what I did there?) in significance when compared to the millions upon millions of victims of Christianity.

Jake, First, holding any organization or religion responsible for actions centuries past is folly at best and dangerous at its worst. Christianity may have led crusades, but Islam and other religions have not been without their own attempts to war against other faiths. Second, take your hate somewhere else. If you don’t like Christianity, that’s fine, its your right not to, but the only thing you’re doing by spilling bile about a religion that makes up, gee, I dunno, 33% of the world’s population is creation unneeded tension.

To be fair the crusades were about religion about as much as the iraq war was about iraqi freedom, they used religion as a pretext to invade an important city and from what i’ve heard/read upon conquering Jerusalem the first time burned the jews and killed any Christians who were already there. and Christianity didn’t cause the holocaust politics did, same with slavery. A few crazy people take religion manipulate some words and then use it to manipulate others into doing their bidding , i doubt all those nazi’s loved Jesus and then decided to spend their time persecuting his people….and i doubt most of those slave owners believed that bull shit they peddled so much as they needed a way to justify their sins, and as my mother says to justify is just to lie.

Christianity has been part and parcel of a lot of crimes throughout history, that’s undeniable. However, it has also been a moral force for good. The brutality of the dark ages would be almost impossible for modern people to comprehend; much of this barbarism dissipated as Christianity took hold. Many early abolitionists were motivated by their Christian faith (while many in the pro-slavery camp used the Bible to justify their evil ideology.) The record is mixed. It’s not the faith itself that is at fault. The precepts are generally good. It’s just that it’s been abused by greedy, evil men (generally conservatives) who have misused it in their violent lust for power.
Martin Luther King was a Christian. So were many other great figures of the past, including some of my personal heroes: Father Maximilian Kolbe, Jean Varier, Thomas Merton, Teilhard de Chardin, etc.
To condemn all Christians as nasty self-satisfied hypocrites (like that awful Bob Waas, for example) is just as bigoted as making blanket anti-Semitic statements about Jews, or ignorant comments about Islam. I agree that there are a LOT of bad “Christians”. Just don’t tar all of them with the same brush.

The KKK represents everything that is bad about the vicious right-wing perversion of Christianity. The ignorant, narrow-minded bigotry; the ridiculous chest-thumping jingoistic sense of superiority. They are the epitome of what YOU see as the problem with Christianity.
