Benghazi Terror Suspect Captured By U.S. In Secret Raid

Posted by | June 17, 2014 13:22 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

U.S. Special Operations forces captured one of the suspected ringleaders of the 2012 raid on the Benghazi compound.

The officials said Ahmed Abu Khattala was captured Sunday near Benghazi by American troops, working alongside the FBI, following months of planning, and was now in U.S. custody “in a secure location outside Libya.” The officials said there were no casualties in the operation and that all U.S. personnel involved have safely left Libya.

Abu Khattala’s apprehension is a major victory for the Obama administration, which has been criticized for having failed so far to bring those responsible for the Benhazi attacks to justice.

In a statement issued by the White House, President Obama said that “with this operation, the United States has once again demonstrated that we will do whatever it takes to see that justice is done when people harm Americans.”

There has to be a conspiracy involved. I’m waiting for the RWNJs to expose it at any moment now.

My inside sources tell me that if right wingers cannot come up with a conspiracy theory, they do have several fallback plans.

The people who complained that the President was doing nothing to apprehend the terrorists responsible for Benghazi, will book appearances on FOX to complain that the President is taking too much credit for apprehending a terrorist responsible for Benghazi.

Louie Gohmert is drafting articles of impeachment, citing the Constitutional limits on Presidential credit.

Meanwhile, Michelle Bachman says it is all a distraction from Bowe Bergdahl.

Orly Taits still wants to know where the REAL birth certificate is.

Sarah Palin says it is all a hoax because she cannot locate the Libyan village where this guy was captured, on her map. Unconfirmed reports indicate she was looking at a map of Russia which she cannot see from her house today, because it is cloudy.

I will issue further bulletins as breaking right wing delusions dictate.

“The sentiment — that Obama timed Khattala’s capture for political benefit — was quickly echoed by other conservatives. Rory Cooper, an aide to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, tweeted, “While it’s great to see they caught the Benghazi suspect, it’s important to remember, he wasn’t really hiding.””

Ahmed Abu Khattala was among a dozen Benghazi suspects indicted August 7, 2013 and GOP TV flipped out even further ‘Attacking the Obama Administration’ quickly diverting back to their ‘no arrests & nobody’s been captured’ debunked GOP fundraising fantasies. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/07/world/africa/libyan-militia-leader-charged-in-2012-benghazi-attack.html

Clearly this victory is just another continuation of the Bush anti-terrorism policies. Just like when Bush sent in that team to take out Bin Laden.

Exactly, I’d like to think Reagan had a hand in it also, hollow be thy name.

It’s about time they caught somebody. But what about the hundred or so others that attacked the compound?

I hope they secured the chain of evidence. If the glove doesn’t fit you must acquit.

And why did they wait so long? Was it just to divert attention from the willful destruction of evidence from Lerner’s computer and about a half dozen others in high positions in the DC IRS office?

    • arc99 June 17th, 2014 at 19:27

Benghazi is a distraction from Benghazi.

Right wingers become even more ridiculous

    • BillTheCat45 June 17th, 2014 at 19:47

LOL funny stuff. They “waited so long” because it took a year and half to find and plan a capture of the guy. This isn’t a movie. After all, it took Bush 6 years to find Bin Laden – oh wait, he didn’t. Why so long?

“Willful destruction of evidence” – what part of your backside did you pull that out of, Detective? Got some facts to back that up?

    • William June 17th, 2014 at 20:53

“It’s about time they caught somebody”….and by they I assume you mean the crack team of special forces as ordered by the duly elected President of these United States, one Barack Hussein Obama.
