Seven Democrats Vote With Republicans To Establish Benghazi Select Committee

Posted by | May 8, 2014 21:34 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories

Why are these people Democrats? Really. They want a select committee, yes another committee to look into Benghazi. It is nothing more than a political witch hunt.

The House voted 232-186 to approve the panel. The vote breakdown was 225 Republicans and 7 Democrats in favor, with 186 Democrats voting against the measure.

The vote was never in doubt, as majority Republicans largely were united in support of the committee ever since House Speaker John Boehner called for it last week. Unclear is whether Democrats will boycott the investigation itself.

Here are the Republicans Democrats who voted to keep this charade going; Reps. John Barrow (D-GA-pictured), Patrick Murphy (D-FL), Ron Barber (D-AZ), Mike McIntyre (D-NC), Collin Peterson (D-MN), Nick Rahall (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ).

All Dems who are worried about getting re-elected in their purple districts.

You, Gregory, are as dumb as a post. Cowards? Patrick Murphy beat Allan West. Would you rather he vote YOUR way and have Allan West back?

Careful now, you don’t have to be mean to get your point across.

People like Mr. Hinton gave us George McGovern and Michael Dukakis and if they prevail again we will wind up with a Pres. Cruz or Rubio or (gasp) Bush. I think many of them live in a political dreamland akin on the left to the right-wing one of the Tea Party.

Interesting you brought up George McGovern. We would have avoided Watergate and Gerald Ford (and Chevy Chase!) and a whole lot of additional American soldier deaths in Vietnam and possibly the Arab Oil Embargo and the resulting long gas lines and eventual stagflation and even possibly the Iranian/U.S. Embassy hostages thing…assuming Jimmy Carter didn’t get elected in 1976 over disgust with Nixon/Ford mismanagement. Of course…that is all…’what if?’…isn’t it?

I was reminded today that Republican demagoguery on Benghazi included Romney saying President Obama was sympathetic to the attackers. Much more stupid demagoguery like this and Repubs may lose their opportunity to win control of the Senate.

    • Betty G. Withers May 9th, 2014 at 08:55

I heard Romney spewing lies this morning. Either lies or stupidity – hard to know which with Romney. I guess he is thinking of running again. That would be fun.

      • granpa.usthai May 9th, 2014 at 12:09

name recognition, Betty. Politicians need name recognition to get the vote. In the other Mitt Romney, being associated with Bain Capitol, Reaganomics, the systematic destruction of Union Labor with US Manufacturing while stuffing offshore bank accounts to overflowing with the other Mitt Romney’s name attached was a slight negative; but with the re-reinvention of the OTHER Mitt Romney, no need for past records. (WHITE ENOUGH for the White House – even if he is a greedy Bishop).

didn’t any one expect the repugs to try to have dem plants????? I’m surprised there are only 7

    • Blake Faulkner May 10th, 2014 at 09:44

Nice ‘theory’. The reality is that one of those seven Democrats defeated the GOP-TP ‘darling’ and ‘gone-rogue-Colonel’, loose cannon/Congressional Black Caucus commie-hunter Allen West back in November 2012. Do you REALLY think the GOP-TP ‘planted’ THAT Democrat, Patrick Murphy, to defeat their main token black teabilly in the U.S. House?…That would take SOME bizarro brand of ‘logic’ to arrive at that…ummm…’theory’.

Here is a different theory I’ve come up with. Maybe Patrick Murphy is just trying to maintain some ‘credits’ with republicans that he can call in later when he needs some support on something actually important here in his/my district. Where he has already made a big difference in dealing with long neglected environmental problems caused by VERY politically influential and VERY rich corporate welfare supported agribusiness interests. Who call even local Republicans who dare to oppose them on really serious local environmental issues…’communists’…Ironic…no?

P.S. I’m talking about the ‘Sugar Barons’ of South Florida…aka as the Fanjul brothers. Look ’em up.

This is just what is needed after one of the biggest POLITICAL COVER-UPS since the Nixon years. We have had nothing but lie, after lie, after lie from this Administration about this issue (and other issues) and it’s time they are held to account for their misdeeds. We know you libs just hate it when the constitution is followed as in this case with the oversight powers of the House of Representatives (the TRUE representatives of the people). Even though you look at Obama as King, he can still be held to account.

    • Shades May 9th, 2014 at 07:49

Another rant from another delusional RWNJ. Yawn.

    • mea_mark May 9th, 2014 at 08:49

You really think we need to waste more tax payer money on an investigation that has already been done? The republican party is turning into the party of fiscal irresponsibility. There is no big cover-up, it is all a fabricated illusion to keep the GOPers riled up and rabid.

      • William May 9th, 2014 at 09:21

If you like your healthcare plan you can keep it. The killings were cased by a video. There’s two – and a bunch more if you are not yet convinced that Obama is an out and out liar.

        • arc99 May 9th, 2014 at 11:44

I and millions of other Americans kept their health care plan and their doctor.
I am not even going to bother with the right wing distortions and propaganda about Benghazi.

3,000 people died on 9/11/2001 and right wingers insisted we needed unity, so you know what you can do with your partisan hypocrisy.

        • granpa.usthai May 9th, 2014 at 12:00

‘the killings were caused by a video’ -CIA reports verified by e-mail in question. This will no doubt turn out to be another gazillion dollar boondoggle @ TAXPAYER EXPENSE.

Does provide some humor for our Illustrious and Magnificent Kin -er uh POTUS Obama though. Don’t you think he’d look simply Marvelous with a for real POTUS Robe and Crown?!?

    • granpa.usthai May 9th, 2014 at 11:49

        • arc99 May 9th, 2014 at 12:13

well I am black. and if you were black, I would simply wonder why you support a party which welcomes people who think we blacks get a “free ride”.. I would wonder why you support a party which has demanded a birth certificate from this President while never making any demands on previous Presidents who were coincidentally all white.

not necessarily an Uncle Tom, but anyone is in the 5% of blacks who support the GOP has some explaining to do as far as I am concerned.

          • RacistDems May 9th, 2014 at 12:25

First off, I belong to no party. I believe a government that is smaller creates less waste. That creates less expense for its people of all races. Helping business, industry, and technology grow by creating a less expensive environment which allows jobs for all races.
As for the “black get a free ride”. Anyone that rides the welfare system, meaning taking advantage of it, is getting a free ride. That problem is prevalent in all races.

Many of these Democrats represent relatively conservative districts and therefore frequently vote somewhat more conservatively. You can not demand a Democrat like John Barrow of Georgia (the only white Democratic congressman from Georgia) vote like, for example, my own Democratic congressman, Jerrold Nadler of New York. Every one of these moderate Democrats is 1000% better than any conservative Republican. Get real.
