Best known for having his name attached to a savings and loan scandal, Charles Keating died at 90 in Phoenix.

Keating was the former head of Lincoln Savings and Loan, and is known for being tied to the savings and loan scandal of the 1980s that involved the “Keating Five”, which included Arizona Senators McCain and DeConcini, and ended with Keating serving five years in a federal prison.

Keating’s conviction was later overturned and in 1999, he pled guilty to lesser charges and was sentenced to time already served.
