More BridgeGhazi Emails: Staffers Feared They Would Be Fired

Now here’s an interesting find in the latest round of fully unredacted BridgeGhazi emails: staffers were worried that the traffic tie-up that triggered the scandal might get them canned.

[David] Wildstein and another highly paid, Christie-appointed authority bigwig mused about their tenuous job security in a Nov. 12 text message. That was the night before a meeting of agency commissioners.

“Are we being fired?” since-resigned Deputy Executive Director Bill Baroni asked Wildstein. Both stepped down in December.

Wildstein — a high school pal of Christie — was also involved in a bizarre exchange with the governor’s now-dismissed campaign manager Bill Stepien.

Sources confirmed the two were discussing PA Executive Director Patrick Foye after an agency memo about the bridge closing was leaked to the media.

“Holy s—, who does he think he is, Capt. America?” asked Stepien.
