Arkansas Lawmaker Trying To Stop People From Getting Health Coverage

State Rep. Nate Bell is going out of  his way to stop people in his state from getting health coverage. Bell, likely, has health insurance, I’m guessing, so why worry about the have-nots?

Bell is trying to add an amendment onto a state Medicaid expansion bill that would stop Arkansas from using federal funds to promote Obamacare.

Besides acting a gag order for state employees, Bell’s amendment would stop the work of trained guides who help Arkansans enroll in the Obamacare website or the state health care exchange.

“We’re trying to create a barrier to enrollment. Less enrollment means lower costs,” Bell told the Arkansas Times. “In general, as a conservative, if I have the opportunity to reduce government spending in a program from what’s projected… I’m probably going to take that deal.”

Bell failed to mention the enormous cost of treating uninsured people in emergency rooms, which gets passed onto to taxpayers, and the fact that Obamacare is funded by the federal government for 100 percent for the first three years and 90 percent until 2022, notes ObamacareFacts.com.

Bell’s amendment would ban the state of Arkansas from using television, radio, print, direct mail, online ads to promote health care coverage to uninsured Arkansans.
