Republican Rep: ‘Give Our Nominees Duct Tape To Put Over Their Mouths’

Tennessee Congressman Phil Roe knows how important (and how likely) it is that Republicans running for office say stupid things.

“I would suggest, when we nominate people, we give them a roll of duct tape to put over their mouths so they don’t say stupid things,” [Roe] said. “Maybe we can win an election.

“We should have won three or four senate seats last time. We did not,” he continued. Poe said that there are a number of strong GOP candidates running for office.

“We’ve got to go out and get behind our candidates and not pick every little thing,” Poe added. “Let’s quit doing that and get behind our guys.”
