Trump Would Run For Governor If Nomination Is Handed To Him

The Donald doesn’t want a primary. He wants the Republican nomination for New York governor without a fight. In other words, if Westchester County Executive Astorino runs, Trump won’t.

“I really want unity,” said Trump, who is scheduled to address a GOP fundraiser in Buffalo Friday. “I want to go in there right from the beginning and I want to go in swinging right from the beginning. I don’t want to be knocking Rob or knocking anybody else to win a primary.”

Many people are skeptical Trump would ever run even if his conditions were met. The spotlight-loving developer has flirted with running for governor and president several times, but has never come close to pulling the trigger on a candidacy…

Trump said he is no rush to make a final decision and appears ready to wait out Astorino. He made it clear that if Astorino – who has said he’ll likely make a decision by the end of February – runs, he’s out.

“I wouldn’t waste my time,” Trump said. “I wouldn’t do it and you’d make a lot of people very unhappy.”

Yeah, especially those who want to see Trump run and lose.
