There are more than a few people who smell an “astroturf” campaign on social media to pressure Cracker Barrel into reversing their decision to pull some “Duck Dynasty” merchandise in the wake of Phil Robinson’s obnoxious anti-gay tirade in GQ. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least.

Cracker Barrel reversed its decision to pull “Duck Dynasty” merchandise from the shelves two days ago — after birds of a feather flocked to the Robertson family’s defense.
“You told us we made a mistake. And, you weren’t shy about it. You wrote, you called and you took to social media to express your thoughts and feelings. You flat out told us we were wrong,” the chain restaurant said. “We listened.”

The Southern country-themed restaurant announced its plan to remove certain “Duck Dynasty” items for evaluation on Friday.
This came about after the family’s Bible-thumping patriarch Phil Robertson, 67, made anti-gay comments during an interview in the January issue of GQ.

“It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus, that’s just me,” the star told the magazine, before going on to equate homosexuality with bestiality.

Cracker Barrel explained it wanted to avoid offending loyal customers — which is exactly what it did.
