Pat Robertson: Low Carb Diet ‘Violates’ God’s ‘Principles’

Turns out, Pat Robertson is not only an expert on Haitian devil pacts and gay-hating hurricanes, but can also be turned to for nutritional advice. Today’s 700 Club included a segmentabout the benefits of a low-carb diet. Robertson was having none of it.

For one thing, he said, we need carbs because they are the “fire that burns everything completely”. While his co-host attempted to suggest that current thinking involves a differentiation between good and bad carbs, Robertson has clearly heard all about the ol’ Atkins Diet and proceeded to mansplain to her about the whole thing. (Never you mind what the segment itself had said.) Ultimately, though, Robertson declares that a low-carb diet simply “violates principles that God sent down.”

He followed this up with a question from a caller about halal meat, which gave him an opportunity to impugn all Muslim butchers as supporters of terrorism. Pat Robertson, folks: the most entertaining (if distressing) bang for your buck on television!
