And how many Americans would agree with this?

“I’m gay, and I’m just the same person as you, my dear audience, as President Putin, as Prime Minister Medvedev and the deputies of our Duma,” KontrTV anchor Anton Krasovsky said directly into the camera during last Friday’s broadcast.

Within hours he was notified, via text, that the Kremlin-backed network had terminated his employment.

The clip of his coming-out was also scrubbed from the network’s site and YouTube account. In an interview with The Independent, Krasovsky revealed that he fully expected to be fired but spoke up out of a conscientious objection to Russia’s new laws prohibiting the “propagandizing” of “non-traditional sexual relationships.”
