A little reasoning from a Muslim rights group is all it took.

Target Sports, in Royal Oak, Michigan, withdrew the Crazy Bones bull’s eye after concerns it would lead gun owners to see any Muslim wearing traditional clothes as the enemy.

Dawud Walid, executive director of the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said, “I had a spirited conversation with a family member of the owner.

“He told me we’re at war and we were trying to kill Osama bin Laden. I told him there are people here who may dress that way [in a robe and turban] and they aren’t like Bin Laden.

“He promised to stop selling them. It was that simple.”

Walid praised the move, telling the Oakland Press: “We welcome the decision […]to discontinue selling such targets.

“[THE SALE] could have the effect of perpetuating misconceptions that Muslims, in particular those wearing certain attire, are to be viewed as a threat that should be eliminated.”

Despite his progress, Walid said he was still asking Ohio-based manufacturer Thompson Target to withdraw the item from sale on its website.
